I'm sure nobody on here actually listens to Slipknot but I think their new album is really good. It's got a couple really heavy songs and some slower stuff on it.
It's definitely the best thing they have ever put out. Corey Taylor's voice sounds really good on it. Anybody heard this album?

its not bad.Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.0 -
Well, I love all kinds of Hard Rock as long as it's Great, such as Pearl Jam (obviously), one of the Great Grunge pioneers, so it's no surprise that I Love Heavy Metal as well. Slayer and Pantera are 2 of my favorite bands. For some reason though Slipknot just annoy me. I hear it's good thoughThis is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

I have to root for them......they started up right down the road from meLike a word misplaced...nothing said...what a waste0

Easiest song to get into is Psychosocial by far. Gematria, Dead Memories, This cold black, and Sulfur are good so far, too. It certainly isn't "Iowa" but it does get pretty heavy at times. I like this mix of singing and yelling. I can't take an whole album of yelling anymore. This is more my speed....Slipknot for the masses

I bought it yesterday and I thought it was pretty good. That being said, I was a huge Slipknot fan when they first came out but not so much anymore. I think Corey Taylor is way above the level that Slipknot is at musically. I mean, 9 guys who can keep rhythm like that consistently is def talent. I like Stonesour so much better and I think Corey should focus on that side of the coin more. A few years ago it was rumored that Slipknot would break up. A lot of the guys have side projects so it's a woder how much longer they will all stick together. He who forgets will be destined to remember.

From the opening squeals of the guitar to the simple, yet "in your face" pounding of the drums during the verses, it definitely gets the head moving. I just took my son to see these guys on the Mayhem tour before the album came out and I am glad I went. I like the 'controlled chaos' of a show they put on. But, I am spoiled from Pearl Jam and when they said it was the last song, I thought "that's it?"If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?0 -
this is their best "all around" album
Iowa is their hardest, but All Hope is Gone is their best IMO0 -
I am not a big slipknot fan but physcosocial does rock. I feel like getting in my car and driving 120 mph down the fuckin highway while jammin to this song. Kinda reminds me of some good old metallica.Light green to green, dark green, brown..

only listened to the album one time around so far, but i really didn't hear anything else that i liked. I'll give it a few more tries, but so far this sounds like their worst album.
Psychosocial may be the best song they have ever put out though, it just pounds you down.0 -

This was my quote from last week.........
I've listened to this disc for about a week straight and I'm pretty impressed with it. I read in an article that Corey was sick of pretending he couldn't sing, and I've kind of become open to it. This is probably their best album musically...I'm actually really liking it.0 -
as a huge fan of slipknot, i've given this album many spins since i bought on the day it came out. if i were writing a review of it, i would describe it as doo doo.0

It's ok at best,(for a slipknot album). I still think their first album is the best of their material because it sounds like a raw beast just broke loose in the studio. I noticed on this new album that Joey's drums have become more prominent in the mixing, and while he's an amazing drummer, hitting double pedals as fast as he can just isn't doing it for me. Also, I don't care for Corey singing. I am not a Stone Sour fan. I like Slipknot for the animal like screaming, not the Stone Sour singing, and I know it's the same guy, but I wish he could just separate the two.0

i agree with all of this. i've always believed that in music, especially metal because the rage or whatever triggered you to write about it and sing out your frustrations goes away once you get recognized on the street or start making money. when you hit that point, that aura you had as a struggling young band just playing for the passion goes away. then, it makes you less believable as a voice that sings about negativity because millionaires aren't who most listeners seek energy from.
hopefully, this is their riot act.0 -
A friend of mine's persuaded me to go with him to see Slipknot in December!
He's agreed to come along with me to see My Morning Jacket in Nov & Kings of Leon in Dec, so in return I said I'd go with him to see Slipknot & Stereophonics!!
Stereophonics I can handle. But not sure what to expect with Slipknot.
What can I expect?!! Is it all crazy people in masks or are there some fairly mild-mannered types that go see this band?!Cymru Am Byth
