"Give Chris his balls back!"

ok gang... we're all familiar with chris cornell's recent catastrophe by now... but instead of just bitching about it how about getting rid of any touch of timbaland and trying to salvage some decent vocals amongst the shitty beats and lyrics?... thats where the contest comes in!

I stole the remix idea from NIN's/Radiohead's fansites, but it is so much more necessary for CC right now... which is why there will be a prize! there are some a capella version's of old SG songs and one of "part of me" from scream floating around the interweb that could make for a decent song if combined right and with some good GarageBand or other editing skills... the links will be at the bottom of this post and ill do my best to dig up more vocals from his new stuff, convert them into more accessible formats, and anything else you think might be helpful

THE RULES:
-you must use all the lyrics from "part of me"* (as bad as they are)... you can however rearrange and take snippets from other songs to make it sound less stupid... or if you wanna just add some badass guitar over what he's already got... give that a shot
*if i find other a capella versions of scream songs the same rule applies when editing
-it must suck less than how bad it already sucks
-you can use any music available to you for mixing, if you wanna do a girl talk/hood internet type mix... but preferably something more original...
-any genre will do...
-basically just SAVE these songs!
-if you use a file sharing website to enter your song, please use mediafire as it has little/no daily d/l limit (compared to megaupload and yousendit)

I know nothing about editing music myself so I don't know how plausible this really is... but I've seen some amazing results at NIN's/Radiohead's websites with fan remixes (though both made more resources available for mixing) and I'm sure many of us are just as skilled

THE PRIZE: TBA** (probably an extra PJ poster I have... if it gets popular enough and the results are good I'm sure others will donate to the cause as well)
-SG boots (Marie Curie) (probably uggs knowing chris  )
-SG DVDs (Marie Curie) ( http://db.etree.org/PJfreak )

**we will vote on a winner once we have enough good entries to do that

DEADLINE: tenatively set for my birthday, January 25th (because saving CC would be the best gift of all :D)

BUMP!!! Great idea, good to see a proactive attitude for once.

Come on everyone, lets save chris from himself.

Radiohead's W.A.S.T.E. website has some great fan remixes of their own songs just for more examples & ideas.
  • bump again... gotta get this thing rolling!

I mixed the Rage Against The Mahcine version of 'How I Could Just Kill A Man' with the vocals from 'Part of Me.' The two songs didn't need much tweaking and it only took about 20 minutes, but it's far from perfect. But I guess it's the closest thing we'll ever see to Audioslave's take on Scream :p

Great work! actually works real well! maybe some pitch modulating needed on the chorus but overall im surprised how well it lines up... i added you to the "entries" section... thanks for getting us started :D

oh and this reminded me... i've added another rule... for all further entries that wish to use filesharing sites please use mediafire rather than megaupload or yousendit due to the d/l limits on those sites... thanks

    KEEP EM COMING!

  • I suppose this is more constructive than my previous thought of remixing which was to remix the entire thing into total silence.

ha... maybe ill add that to the rules... your remix must exist to count as an entry
