I apologize if this has already been a thread but i cant find it if it is - im interested to hear what people would say they think is the single greatest rock song of all time. One that epitomizes rock music at its finest.
I have two in mind so ill put both - Roadhouse Blues by the Doors and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Doesnt get much better then that IMO.

Machine Gun - Hendrix - the absolute pinnacle of rock music in my opinion. Hell, pretty much the pinnacle of music period as far as I'm concerned.0

Can't get more Rock then that song.
but i think you hit the nail on the head. that song encapsulates what rock is all about, more than anything else i can think of right now.
also, PJ's "Alive"
watch this video to be re-reminded of what rock is all about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_LQU2-GOXY0 -
For me its Led zeppelin's Nobody's Fault But Mine - great riff, excellent harmonica solo and one of Jimmy Page's best guitar solos"...though my problems are meaningless....that don't make them go away...."0

Black Dog
But Born to Run too.
I'd say Black Dog is the greatest, Born to Run is the ultimate... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0
