I think a bunch of us tried to get tickets but were rejected. I was online for an hour as soon as they went on sale but had no luck.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

The show last night was excellent. Lots of fun. Starla kicked ass, as did the acoustic Rocket. The band sounds very tight too. Amazing show, if you can score a ticket.
Liberace was great on the piano but he sucked on the organ.

Excellent. Thanks a bunch. Although the band was allegedly encouraging taping, I didn't see any rigs last night and over on Netphoria some people were saying the venue didn't allow tripods.

As they do just about everywhere. Still, I didn't see any rigs last night.

I may try to get back over there if my connection can score some more tickets. I'm just happy to have been there for one, though.

  • I was there and I don't know how the fuck that soundcheck could be "jamming with the fans". They didn't let anyone in until like 7:15 or 7:30.

In any case, amazing show. I saw some dude in an avocado shirt but didn't want to lose my place in line (i was about to get inside) to go give him a thumbs up or something..

Okay, so now this DEFINETLY did not happen. There was an opening band (a pretty damn good one called Celebration apparently) that played for about 30 minutes before the Pumpkins came on, at which point they went directly into the main set.

    That soundcheck is b.s.

edit: Also note that Rocket, 1979, this is a song I sing, and Daydream were just Billy on acoustic

  • And for those of you who've been to Asheville before..

B.C. : "I was in town for about a minute yesterday and someone offered me some weed. I said, 'no thanks brother I don't smoke..."

Then he continued to talk about how Asheville was "built on a crystal" and you get high by just being there. :p

    Some random questions...

As far as the orgnanization of the Orange Peel, how was it with getting everyone their tickets and getting inside and stuff? I was a little worried with it being all will call that it would be a bit of a clusterfuck and my friends and I really don't want to have to stand in line for 4 hours (especially after the drive from fucking Tampa Florida).

How is the venue as far as sound, general crowdedness, sightlines, etc? I know its a small place, but again I don't really want to camp out for hours just to get a decent spot.

I don't know Asheville at all, I drove through it once, but thats it. However, I am going to be there for 4 days, so any heads up on food, bars, record stores, other cool shit that I should hit up?

    Thanks in advance.

Bit of a long line to get in but they were quick about it considering how many people were there (and remember it's a tinnnny club). They seperated the tickets alphabetically (a-g, h-l, etc) and let people in gradually. Also a quick frisk before you enter the building of course. Certainly no clusterfuck.

Not a bad spot in the joint my friend! A bit crowded once the show started but that's gotta be expected. There are no seats, just a floor. Sound quality was excellent.

DEFINETLY hit the Mellow Mushroom. It's a chain, there are a few more scattered around the region, but the one in Asheville is the best in the world. Art all over the place (statues, paintings, stuff hanging from the ceiling). Also very good food, pretty good prices, and vegetarian and probably vegan friendly (EXCELLENT tofu).

There are also lots of other good restaurants, at least 2 vegan places that people rave about, probably a boba house... a few record stores.. lots and lots and lots of neat shops in the downtown area.. I'm not from there so I'm not incredibly familiar with locations but it's all pretty close together (downtown). I loooooove the town.. going to college there this fall :)
