I honestly think it's my duty as a decent person (I consider myself a decent person) to convince everyone here who doesn't have this album to run out and get it right now.
It is beautiful.
No, I don't think I can convince anyone to run out and buy it. But if there are any Pink Floyd fans who haven't gotten it because of the conspiracy involved in keeping it relatively under-the-rader, then you probably should. It's their best album.
Is there anyone else like me who hasn't been fooled by this--the greatest conspiracy in all of music history?

haha one of my friends is all about this album. i dont know if its their best work, but it is definitely their most underrated album by far.0 -
No kidding though. It's just beautiful. There's no other word for it.
I wouldn't say it's the most underrated album of all time. But it's without a doubt the most underrated by a band that's already as recognized as Pink Floyd.
The re-release with When the Tigers Broke Free is especially wonderful. That song is on Echoes and I know there are probably a lot of people who have Echoes but don't have The Final Cut. If you like that song you'll love the final cut. Imagine WTTBF x13.saw things so much clearer0 -

i didnt say it was the most underrated album of all time. i said it is their most underrated album, which i feel it is. i have the final cut and i do think its great. i dont think Echoes was a good compilation, on the other hand. it is missing a lot of key tracks.0 -
oh I know you werent saying it was the most underrated, sorry. I was just saying that independently of what you said. I guess your comment is just what made me think of mine.saw things so much clearer0

haha its all good, no worries.0 -
I'm a huge fan of this album, I think most people like Floyd because of DSOTM and The Wall (at least people my age). I wish they would branch out and discover this album.deep, deep blue of the morning
gets to me every time0 -
It's almost the Wall pt. 2.
Personally, I prefer Animals.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -
Animals is a damn fine album too.
I can definitely see the similarities between The Wall and The Final Cut, though I see The Final Cut as having more feeling, consistancy, focus, and better lyrics. It doesn't have the big hits, but a lot of great albums are like that. It's not just a collection of songs. It's what Pink Floyd did best.saw things so much clearer0 -

No.
No. No. No. No. No.
If any of you are going to get The Final Cut, do yourself a favor and find a version without WTTBF on it. That's how the album was meant to be heard. I've loved WTTBF since the first time I heard it, but it does NOT belong on the TFC album; it is decidedly a part of The Wall narrative. Yes, it was originally released as the lead single, but that was when TFC was still going to be a collection of Wall-era outtakes (of which WTTBF was one)/Wall movie versions of songs and not the thematic album it turned out to be.
If you want to hear WTTBF, just get Echoes. It belongs more on there than it does The Final Cut.0 -

It's okay. I like Not Now John and Fletcher Memorial Home a lot and there are a couple other good songs. it's more of a Waters' solo album than anything though.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. I am torn on this album. It is great if I am in the mood for it, but I'd put a good 6-7 Floyd discs ahead of it on my favorites list.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"0 -
It's a great album, but I always feel like "Not now John" just doesn't quite fit with the rest of it, musically.0

"Fuck all that we got to get on with these! Got to compete with the wily Japanese."
Absolutely love this album! Granted it is pretty much all Roger Waters and it's the only Pink Floyd album that Rick Wright doesn't play on at all, but I have a deep connection to this album from my teenage years (along with The Wall and Wish You Were Here).
Check out the short film if you haven't seen it before. Pretty good stuff.

Definitely one of the most bittersweet works of art out there.
So complex and yet Water's voice sounds so innocent whilst weaving the album's many threads. This was the album that made me love Pink Floyd. I had heard their major hits on the radio, but when I heard this in particular, that was the day I fell in love. The song I heard that made me love it was "Your Possible Pasts." By the time Waters sang the first chorus, I was hooked.www.myspace.com/fusionsong0 -
I am not a huge Floyd fan, but I remember when this album came out. I recently bought it on itunes. Great stuff!
I saw Roger Waters at Coachella, and he did a few songs from it....was very cool!0 -
Animals is my absolute favorite Floyd album.
The Final Cut is interesting and enjoyable."they don't give a shit Keith Moon is dead,
is that exactly what I thought I read?"
How I choose to feel,...Is how I am.0
