Screaming Trees

  • Nearly Lost You and Butterfly I can't really stand to listen to anymore. Songs like No One Knows and Winter Song make it all worth while though. I suggest you start with Sweet Oblivion, Dust, Uncle A., Buzz Factory and then their greatest hits.

I found Sweet Oblivion in a pawn shop in Reno Nevada. I fell in love with the cd, and especially am fond of Dollar Bill. There is also Ocean of Confusion, that came out in 2005. Has 19 songs, with the best on it. Who ever wrote that they didn't look go on MTV (something like that), is pretty much the truth. The two brothers in the band, were big overweight guys, very talented obviously, but not fitting the grunge image record companies were trying to portray. If you like Screaming Trees, you might like Mad Season. The players were Layne Staley, singer (alice in chains), Mike Mccready guitar (PJ), Barrett Martin, drums(Screaming Trees), and John B Saunders, bass (The Walkabouts).
The story is they all hooked up in rehab. I don't know if that is true, but
it makes a good story. #X.

buzz factory really has some great music, but the production is terrible.

Not great production I agree, but still a great disc.

I just got Buzz Factory and Uncle Anesthesia after years of loving Sweet Oblivion and Dust. Both of these albums are great, too. Definitely a little more raw than their later work, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Check out this thread I made for some great live Trees stuff off youtube:

Love them. What a great, great band. Truely under-rated & under-appreciated.

At the moment I'm realy into their early albums, Clairvoyance in particular.
It's interesting how their sound changed slowly over the years from the ballsy post/punk style, through an early REM type sound, to the more lush classic rock sound of the latter albums.

Well worth investing in the back catalogue, to get a proper feel of an incredible band.

So I thought I would give this thread a well deserved bump. I love the Trees and have been listening to them like crazy lately. I took out Dust to listen to Sworn and Broken about a month or so ago and can't seem to put their albums down. I forgot how much I love this band!!!!!
  • Uncle Anesthesia is a favorite album of mine.
But obviously i love Dust and Sweet Oblivion too. ;)

  • Ah, it's great to see some love for the Trees on here! In my opinion, they are one of the most, if not the most, underrated rock bands of the 90s. I love all of their work, and their b-sides are great too! It's a shame the boys couldn't have gotten along more, if they had, I think they could have been much bigger than they were...

Man lately I have been listening to them almost exclusively some days, everyday on the way to and from work. But I cant find any of their CDs anywhere! I only have Sweet Oblivion and Ocean of Confusion :( But I dig their older more Psychedelic stuff, I want to find Uncle Anesthesia somewhere, anybody know where I can just download it??
