I saw Thee Emergency at Bumpershoot, at the skychurch in EMP no less, this weekend. The need to dance was the same as at a Pearl Jam concert! They have soo much energy - a great live band.

dEUS from Antwerp, Belgium! Kick ass band! They've been around since Pearl Jam, I guess...Tom is a great frontman too...

"Instant street" is one of my favorite songs of them...other songs: suds and soda, roses...

  • ASG - from North Carolina, Listen to "The Saga", sick as hell. Its almost a instrumental, which is good, because the singer is the weakest part of this band, but you can tell he's really singing his heart out, and the band absolutly kicks ass. Definately focused more on the music than the singing.

Another band - Grey Haven - from Austin, TX, they sound amazingly like Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff, and not just the guitars, but the vocals too a little bit. I don't know if thats good or not, but I'm a huge Cantrell fan and I like their stuff.

Listen to the sample tracks for songs 1 and 3, tell me they don't sound like they could be on Degradation Trip.

They suffer from the same problem that plaugues a lot of new, independent type bands, all their songs sound the same, but with a little vocal variety, I see big things from this band.

Allow me to sing the praises of Clutch. They've been kicking my ass for the better part of thirteen years now, and the only people that seem to be into these guys are the same people who worship the ground Bam walks on. If you haven't heard Clutch yet, and can get past the fact that people might call you a Bam-loving poseur for listening now, Clutch is a supremely talented band. My suggestions: start with "Jam Room" or "Blast Tyrant", set mind to blown.

i've heard one song by clutch and i really dig it. it's 10001110101. gotta play that shit loud.

some bands that i've just been introduced to in the past couple years that i really really dig (and don't know if they've been mentioned in the other pages of this thread, so if they have you'll have to forgive me):

    toubab krewe
    jazz mandolin project
    keller williams
    Umelt
    great big sea
    ulu
    antigone rising
    yonder mountain string band
reid genauer & the assembly of dust
robert randolph & the family band

There's a really great band from the '80 that everyone has heard of but not many listened to. No radio play then and very little now.
