Metallica @ Bonnaroo?

  • It makes as much sense for them to be there as it does for PJ, so I don't get all the bitching.

Even if they've been "down" for a while now, they are amazing live and with the possible exception of PJ, they will probably blow everyone else off the stage.

This festival is about DIVERSITY. How can a band not belong? One of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

Their performance at Woodstock 94 was incredible. Hands down one of the best. And I was sober.

When they're on, they're great. they wipe the stage with your soul and spit it back out in a song.
I love to turn you on

You're right.......This festival is about DIVERSITY; big or small; good or bad; like it or leave it.

  • I'd never count out a band like Metallica...their recent releases were weaker for sure, but you never know. They could make a huge comeback and put on an incredible show. If I were going to Bonnaroo, I'd see their set for sure.

with Rubin producing its possible, St. Anger might be the worst rock album I've ever heard!

I hope a video surfaces of MetallicA playing "Creeping Death" at Bonnaroo.

Especially the "Die! Die! Die! Die!" part.

    Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
    Heed
To his every word, live in fear
    Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
    Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years

    So let it be written
    So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
    So let it be written
    So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
    I'm creeping death

    Now
Let my people go, land of Goshen
    Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
    Blood
Running red and strong down the Nile
    Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire

    So let it be written
    So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
    So let it be written
    So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
    I'm creeping death

    Die by my hand
    I creep across the land
    Killing first-born man
    Die by my hand
    I creep across the land
    Killing first-born man

    I
Rule the midnight air, the destroyer
    Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
    I
Creep the steps and floor, final darkness
    Blood
Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass

    So let it be written
    So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
    So let it be written
    So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
    I'm creeping death

Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!

the only thing that bothers me about Metallica being there is that their track record with playing the biggest music festivals for the first time hasnt boaded well for the festivals themselves...
    examples:
they played Lolla... and Lolla died (true its back now.. but for almost a decade it was gone!)
they played Woodstock.... woodstock is no more...

now... that is just a little aside but i think that Bonnaroo will continue.

other than that Metallica has every right to be there... yeah they are a metal band.. but Bonnaroo was never really about exclusive jam bands...
(thats more 10kLakes) its been about the celebration of all types of music...including metal!

I saw them the very next night after the first Woodstock or Woodstock II and that was the best Metallica show out of 12 or so that I've seen.

They'll trying harder than ever to win some of their fan base back after recent weak efforts album wise. In fact I just realized I'm listening to them at this moment. That album they released with the symphony in the background live. It's not bad but I certainly wouldn't have bought it though.

Also they completely outplayed Guns and Roses when they had that tour together, now that was some serious fun and my neck was hurting for days after . :)
