the majority of these lists are not making any sense. This guy was asking for the best alternative albums of the 90's and i'm seeing Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Collective Soul, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews, STP, RATM. In the 90's these guys were like the mainstream superstars....Pearl jam/ nirvana being the mainstream of the mainstream.

its like if this guy was asking for the best Alternative albums of today, your responses would be:

    My chemical romance
    Fallout boy
    Green Day
    Killers
    Beyonce
    blink 182
    nickleback
    staind

Whats with this love for Radiohead there garbage.

    1-Alice in Chains-Dirt
    2-Stp-Purple
    3-Pearl Jam-Vs
    4-Gnr-Use your illusion 1
    5-Soundgarden-Superunknown
    6-Temple of the dog
    7-The Tragically Hip-Fully Completely
    8-Nirvana-Nevermind
    9-Live-Throwing Copper
    10-Moist-Moist

i always think people who don;t like radiohead are musically braindead. having the hip on any list of top anything proves it in this case.
those undecided, needn't have faith to be free
  • My favorite 10 albuns are:

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
    Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
    Pearl Jam - Ten
Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Cranberries - No need to argue
    Nirvana - Nevermind
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication
    Pearl Jam - VS
    Radiohead - Ok Computer
    Eric Clapton - Unplugged

I could have just wrote all the Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam albuns, mas that would be a little too repetitive.

    I agree completely.

BTW, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice.. WERE the alternative.. esp. in 1991.. they killed hairmetal. Granted they were a reluctantly mainstream alternative.. The definition of that word is constantly changing.
