Is it a good idea for a casual fan like myself to see them back-to-back nights? or one is enough?

I only have the debut, By Your Side, and Warpaint(though I admit, I haven't really listened to it yet).

    Thanks in advance!

If you enjoy night one, you'll almost certainly enjoy night two. The Crowes mix up their sets as much, if not more, as Pearl Jam. I really wanted to catch some of the recent Crowes shows in my area, but I'd already invested too much $$$ on getting 3 nights of Pearl Jam tickets last month.

It's a shame the the Crowes lost out on my hard earned dollars, but such is the price for being my SECOND favorite touring band. :) Oh well, luckily I still have all those great bootlegs to get me through until their next go around.

They are hitting Borgata in October. I'm gonna try one of the 2 shows after that one or both of the next 2.

oops, forgot, they also have a 4-night gig in New York City around Halloween time.

Get thee hence and procure a copy of The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion - their best by far and quite possibly a perfect rock 'n' roll record from beginning to end.

And from someone who has seen them almost 15 times, they mix it up like no other and pick some really obsure covers too.

I also highly recommend Amorica. My personal fav although Southern Harmony is a very close second.

Just saw them a week and a half ago and they played some pretty obscure songs and covers. It was an amazing show but I actually heard people complaining after that they didn't get to hear the 'hits'. Makes me sad that they didn't recognize the amazing performance that they had just seen. I was personally blown away and wouldn't have changed one thing. Never miss an opportunity to see the Black Crowes!

Yeah, Amorica is right there too. So many great songs on that album.

Dallas tickets go on sale Friday. Can't wait! This will be my 4th time to see them in just over a year.

    the crowes are great
few pieces of music hit me like the jam>thorn in my pride or my morning song
they do a few kick ass covers other than h2h too
like the bands don't do it, serious chills every time I hear that
there is a danger in seeing them to much, same w PJ, they can get kinda stale after four or more shows on a tour for me
Im a million miles away from home and I cant find a telephone...

I love, love, LOVE the Crowes. Got every album, the past 4, I've bought the day they were released.

I've seen the Crowes 4 times and, for me, they've been pretty consistent, with one exception. The best show that I've ever seen was the Crowes in a small venue in Raleigh right before they release By Your Side. They blew me away! Of course, standing 15 feet from the stage didn't hurt, either.

One of the worst perfomances that I've ever seen by anybody was the Crowes at Midtown Music Festival in Atlanta, right after they released Lions. They seemed to be disinterested and Chris seemed to be trying this glam thing that he wasn't pulling off very well. He needs to stick to the "dirty hippie" motif - fits him better (and i realize that it's not a put on, it's actually who he is). Of course, there is a caveat:

I've found that festival shows should not be subject to the same scrutiny as stand-alone concerts. The quality and intensity seems to be somewhat lacking in the festival shows that I've seen (mixed, often uninterested crowds combined with shorter set lists, plus the prospect of crappy sound). The exception to this rule was STP a year later at the same festival...AWESOME.

The other two times I've seen them - with Jimmy Page in Raleigh and on their last tour in Charlotte - were terrific, incredible. Especially their most recent show (their cover of Pearly Queen was freakin' great).

I'm going to see them in Charlotte in November. Somehow, my friends managed to get VIP tix for that show - I don't know what that entails, but I'm pretty excited!

This is a great album. I'm surprise I'm liking it more than Shake your Money Maker. :)

I'm missing the Crowes this year. I chose 2 raconteurs shows and an MMJ show over it.

"Thorn in my Pride" and "Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye" is a sweet back-to-back combo there!

I'll have to grab the last piece, Lions, next to complete their catalog...I was digging Amorica that much. :o
