I'm looking for some new bands that I like. It seems like I am getting sick of all my music. I don't know how, I have a shit load, but I'm sure some of you know what I mean. So I'm gonna make a long list of shit I like and have, and you guys help find something.

Their live album is a good place to start. There two best albums are perfect from now on and keep it like a secret.
They have a new album that came out today that is pretty cool. It is too new for me to say how it stacks up to the albums already mentioned yet though.
Perhaps you may want to try some Dinosaur Jr.... You're living all over me and Where ya been are my favs.
Both of the above mentioned bands have great guitar playing (in my opinon) Both get many comparisons to neil young for their shakey singing and loud guitar play (lyrics are no where near as good as neil though...) So if you dig loud neil those two might be a good place to go. In fact on the built to spill live album they do a 20 minute cover of cortez the killer.
Maybe some Neutral Milk Hotel would do you good? Their album In an Aeroplane over the sea is AWESOME. Takes a few listens but truely a good album.
Sonic Youth's Daydream nation is a classic or maybe Sonic Nurse it was really good even though it was their last album it was the one that really hooked me and made me go get their back catalog.
So lets review:

Also, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY are ridiculously good, all instrumental, but intense, and beautiful music. Start with "The earth is not a cold dead place".
And I reccommend the band CURSIVE to everyone I know, all of their albums are different and incorporate different themes, so obviously with that different people will like different albums, but "The ugly organ" is probably their most accessible, creative album. Their really just a high energy rock band, but unfortunatly people lump them in with emo, which I think is a bo'shit genre title for them.
In that same vein you can't go wrong with AT THE DRIVE IN's "Relationship of command".
You know i've recomended this album to three people and two of the three did not like it.... I don't know why i rank it as one of my all time favorite albums. I love that shit. I guess people can't get into the singing...

I wouldn't stand up and tout my diversity after only listing those bands, is what this all boils downs it, I guess. I'm not saying ile and Metallica are similar, or that Jeff Bucklery and Lamb of God make up a similar lineup
No worries....I didn't feel like you were bashing me. I guess that when you looked at my list and when I looked at my list and the word diverse was used, you and I thought two different things. That's what it boils down to. If I felt like you were bashing me, I woulda been rude or called you a name or something.
I mean, c'mon.....Jeff Buckley and Lamb of God aren't in the same league....they're not even playing the same game. That should be evident to everybody

One of Mike's other bands Mr Bungle is also really awesome! They meld so many different styles together in the course of one song its amazing sounding and really creative stuff. I'd recomend California or their self-titled album to someone without any mr bungle albums. They're both awesome and were really easy for me to get into whereass their other album, Disco Volante is pretty weird and avant-garde, I'm still trying to get into it. California's probably the easiest Mr Bungle to listen to but to me isn't as fun as their self-titled album.

yes they are. if your not into that, you still might like the album dither. but i agree with the one who said pinback, they are great. or anything that rob crow does.

Another good band is the Decemberists. I would pick up "Picaresque" because it's such a great album.
Also, I didn't see any Death Cab for Cutie on there. They've got some good stuff. Pick up "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes" or "Transatlantacism". Those are my two favorites by them.
