Blind Melon
Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
Pearl Jam
AIC
But then again, these bands listed can't make bad songs0 -
The Shins shoulda put their B-side of the alternate version of Split Needles on the album instead of the version they put on the album. Upbeat vs. depressing, too totally different songs, and the former is better.2003 Mansfield III
2004 Boston I
2006 Boston I
2008 Bonnaroo, Hartford, Mansfield I
2010 Hartford
2013 Worcester I, Worcester II, Hartford
2016 Bonnaroo, Fenway I, Fenway II

a tough nut to crack being that you usually only bother with the b-sides of your very favorite bands
I agree with this fellow, Pixies put out a good album of B-sides. More Frank Black yelping in spanish is a good thing.0 -
Tiki Barber wrote:funny that this is the first thing i see when i open the thread. i was thinking oasis as soon as i looked at it. the masterplan might be one of their best albums, and it's nothing but b-sides. pearl jam has great b-sides too and some of their b-sides from lost dogs are album material and even some of their best songs, but unlike oasis' b-sides, i can see why some of the songs didn't make the final cut.
yeah, but if lost dogs was only 1 disc, it'd easily rival masterplan. i wish masterplan had been 2 discs though.0 -

In my mind now there are 2 bands: Oasis and Pearl Jam.
Pearl jam haven't put out a good b side for a while
I would go with
Coldplay, arctic monkeys, ocean colour scene ,travis and oasis.
The beatles had some quality out to.0 -

Gomez has basically put out two double disc b-sides records spanning their career.
I put them right up with In Our Gun as my favorite Gomez albums
as well
Radiohead - Pre Kid A (as was mentioned)
Foo's (TCATS & earlier)“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0 -
c'mon people!! BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he wrote 4 songs for every one he released. his Tracks boxset was good but do some digging for his old acoustic demos.. the shit that got him signed to Columbia. "Arabian Nights", "Cowboys of the Sea", "If I Were The Priest", "Southern Son", "Two Hearts In True Waltz Time", "Song For Orphans", "Balland Of The Self-Loading Pistol".. etc.0

Incubus (Crowded Elevator, Pantomime, the Odyssey, Monuments & Melodies, Punchdrunk, Look Alive)
Ben Kweller (Tylenol, I Quit)
RadioheadIf I could, think I would give in.0 -
Most people would say Radiohead, but it's only true if you count their pre-Kid A b-sides. Post Kid A b-sides are shit to the fullest.0
-
The Cure put out some fantastic b sides.0

pearl jam
smashing pumpkins
radiohead
beck

Wilco- they might be a notch below great but some very good songs like cars can't escape
Neil Young- Not sure if it is technically b sides but he has albums that were not released and some of it sounds great. those tasty cuts should be coming soon during his archives release.Charlotte 00 | Charlotte 03 | Asheville 04 | Atlanta 12 | Greenville 16 | Columbia 16 |Seattle 18 | Nashville 22 | Ohana Festival 24 x2 | Atlanta 25 x20 -

CM1847 wrote:Radiohead's pre-Kid A b-sides were consistently up there with the quality of their studio work, but their more recent stuff has been decidedly lower in quality(except "Cuttooth").
Smashing Pumpkins, I'll add in the countless outtakes and demos that exist as well, a nearly never-ending supply of songs, find the '89 Demos if you want a treat.
The White Stripes have a good collection as well, some of their better songs are b-sides.
Radiohead's 'The Trickster' is incredible.I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

It's funny what "critical acclaim" and the freedom to put out any shite you want will do to a band.
Lewis, Killer Cars, How Can you Be sure!
For me, despite my love of Kid A and beyond, they turned a corner there that I just wasn't ready for.
