    I like them both.

The Mars Volta are better musicians though.

Well if you're talking about Ikey I guess you could say they are. But personally I prefer Tony's drumming much more than Jon's. I like Jim's vocals WAY more than Cedric's as well.

No way is that a masterpiece. It was barely even a good album

well I forgot to add IMO at the end of that. If you don't like it that's cool. But I love it and I do think it's a masterpiece. I've listened to that album probably more than anything in my whole collection. It's great on a good stereo, in the car, or headphones. The playing, the passion, the lyrics, even the artwork I just think it's a perfect record. Right up with No Code as one of my all time favorites. I doubt they'll ever top it.

Love Sparta more, although TMV is probably the better band.

Porcelain is definitely worth a listen. It's pretty good. There's just some stuff on it that really should have been left off.

Yeah, a 'IMO' is pretty much tagged with everyone's post.

As for me, I like The Mars Volta a lot but haven't really listened to Sparta. I've heard a few songs here and there off their Myspace page but they don't really catch my interest. Not like TMV does anyway. I still have to pick up Frances The Mute though.

    The Mars Volta.
Statistically speaking, you're more likely to be pitied by Mr. T than you are to have feet.

comparisons are inevitable but they play entirely different music.
sparta aren't band but are kinda run of the mill
mars volta are amazing musicians but a bit out there on occasion.

i preferred the middle grounf between these two that at the drive-in offered.

Both bands causes ear pollution. You are better off running from both bands.
