I very much like Screaming Trees.
Am I alone in preferring Dust to Sweet Oblivion? I can't be surely?
so much more mature as a record. excellent stuff."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
i like the screaming treesset your laughter free
dreamer in my dream
we got the guns
i love you,but im..............callin out.........callin out0 -
I love the Trees. I will never understand why they weren't more popular. Sweet Oblivion and Dust are both nearly perfect rock albums. As much as I love Lanegan's solo stuff, I really miss Gary Lee Connor's psychedelic guitar work backing him up.0

I hear ya!
You are not alone jeremy...dust is indeed a tunefest superior to sweet oblivion, its just subtle.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, time for gospel plow0 -
Oh my god......probably my Top 3 band now. Between the lyrics of Conner bros and Lanegan they are godly.....
I see Dust and Sweet Oblivion equal because Dust has a song I don't like (Traveler) and SO has a song I'm not really into (Nearly Lost You....yes Nearly Lost You). Lanegan's voice is so smoke filled and "simple" (as in he doesnt really try to hold notes long) that you wonder how the songs ever ick up but boy when they do you can't help but smile.....
But these lyrics are fucking great:
Dead end street, just out my back door
I heard what's seemed, a young girl laughing
Now raindrops fall away like souls
I wondered if she ever heard mine dying
That is just pure brilliant. Then there is song's like Julie Paradise and Witness that are fucking brilliant too.0 -
I think Sweet Oblivion sounds alot different than the other ones.
But I kind of agree about Nearly Lost You. Its the song that turned me on to the album, but now it has alittle more of a pop sound (not that its anything near pop music) but still you get it.Pirates had democracy too.

i love them...just got sweet oblivion...
i do not know much about all this technical stuff but somehow they managed to sound heavy and fluffy at one time on this record...at least that's my impression
and marks voice is so damn sexy

I just know "nearly lost you" from singles...I like that song but Im not familiar with the rest of their stuff. These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.0
