    truth can be harsh

that it can. i had a similar awful experience when I saw them a couple of years ago. i get that they are fans of the band, but the message of Pearl Jam goes right over their head.
  • It's morning now, and after a long sleep I have cooled off, but yeah again sorry but, I wouldn't reccommend seeing them. :-)

sorry you had a bad experience, then again people go into this thing with expecting to see Eddie Vedder himself up there singing....

remember people its a cover band and not actually the band themselves so take it for what it is, ive seen them twice and both times had a good time

and as far as all the free tickets, its at the Family Arena which is pretty big for a show such as a cover act, hence all the free tickets, this show is usually at Pops which is alot smaller
  • I understand the cover band aspect of it but I have seen some pretty fuckin good cover bands. As I mentioned that Led Zep cover band was awesome, I also saw a Who cover band that was very good.
  • I just got back from their show they played tonight in DeKalb IL. I cannot begin to describe how bad it was. Honestly, that was the worst thing I have ever seen. If you want to know the definition of disgrace, make sure to go to one of their shows. I'm being dead serious, I actually walked out in the middle of their cover of Wishlist, and it was only about 4 songs in. They played Green Disease, I didn't really understand that song choice at all. I should've gotten the hint when I saw the crowd of about 10 people that actually hung around after the amazing Led Zep Cover band that played. Now maybe they looked so shitty because they followed the ledzep band but I don't know. Yes, this is all of my opinion, but I can't see anyone that is such a huge fan of Eddie's voice like myself, actually enjoying this guy sing. Half of the time he's swaying his head back and forth and only makes a couple of words into the mic. It was so obvious that the only thing the singer had on his mind were these two hot blondes that were there for him. He really needs to concentrate on singing the songs right and not some girls in the crowd. The sound quality was really crappy and I didn't enjoy the music aspect of it. I never thought I'd walk out of anything Pearl Jam related, but I took 3 of my friends there that have really only been exposed to Pearl Jam's big hits (Jeremy, Alive etc.) and I was personally embarassed, because I always talk about how great PJ is and how they are my favorite band. I'm sorry for this little rant, but I just got back and I am so fucking furious. I've been actually looking forward to this for several weeks now, and drove about 2 hours to see them, and witnessed just a tragedy in my opinion. If any of the PJ guys saw this, I can't see them feeling any other feelings besides total embarassment. The singer for Evenflow honestly makes Aaron Lewis from staind look like a fucking God. If I didn't see that great LedZep cover band I would be even more angry (if possible), but overall it was just a terrible experience and obviously don't reccommend anyone to waste their time.

That's a pretty accurate review - at least for shows as of late. I drove from the QC to iowa city a couple months ago to see them play, and evenflow is not the same band they used to be. not worth the hour drive to and from iowa city, that's for sure!!!!! I think the singer is the only original member left. they used to have good musicians who cared about how the songs sounded, but now it seems like there's just a bunch of hired guns onstage playing without a care as to how they're covering the songs - definitely should NOT be considered or labeled a real 'tribute" anymore. they sound more and more like a bad bar band that attempts to cover pj.

and yeah, I understand that seeing a cover band is not like seeing the real thing - but it doesn't mean I should accept a shell of a tribute band that carelessly butchers the songs either! there are better pj tribute bands out there, too bad none of them come around illinois. we're stuck with evenflow.

  • I like how they dub themselves "The Ultimate Pearl Jam Experience" that's a good one!

Are they any good? just got some free tix for a st. louis show next Saturday. I think they are playing with a nirvana cover band called lithium.
introduce yourself to the band members...they are great fucking guys and put on a great show...

ive had more fun the last 2 times i have seen evenflow than i had at half the pearl jam shows i saw in 2006...
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Chicago is about to get another PJ tribute band real soon (about damn time!).

Mostly comprised of ex-Even Flow guys (aka the good musicians who made the right choice to leave that band).

Can't wait to hit a Given 2 Fly show and see some PJ songs done right.

I hope this new PJ cover band plays Milwaukee. I never understood why EvenFlow skipped Milwaukee to play Green Bay. WTF???

It's funny how people rip on cover bands.. the rippers should consider that the band who's very message board we're on right now covers a lot of other bands material..

Ed has a great Vedder voice. He covered Pearl Jam quite spectacularly when we played together in the grunge tribute band Generation X.

EVEN FLOW wishes Given 2 Fly the best of luck in their efforts.
Steve "Beaver" Lopez remains the singer in EVEN FLOW, Mike Miller remains on bass. They are joined by Danni Georgi on "Mike" guitar, Craig !!! on drums, and Ben Gurnis on "Stone" guitar.
Look for EVEN FLOW in Endicott and NYC the weekend of Jan 4th and 5th and then back on stage starting March 1st, 2008!

    Peace,

In the end its just regular people paying tribute to the best band PJ. Best of luck to both cover bands.

Plenty of bars and small clubs and great concert fans here in Milwaukee. Hope to see either band up here in 2008. :D

I think it's safe to say PJ cover songs as a tribute, not imitation. That's all this band & the like are, fake ass wannabe Pearl Jam members who obviously don't have enough talent/originality to create their own music so they go traveling around pretending to be another band...pretty humorous actually. :D

Needless to say, I won't be seeing them when they come to St. Louis. ;)

there was a Led Zeppelin tribute band Michael White and the Whites... they knew the band in the 70s and Jimmy Page even highly recommends seeing them... they truly are a "tribute" band.... that i have no problem with... i have seen them and yup it was nothing short of amazing

its just fake energy of cover bands that I don't get how people can get into.. I suppose there is a percentage of people who see pearl jam shows to hear the hook that they know from the radio.. these same people i could see at the cover band shows... anyways have fun, hopefully the band gets laid after the show
