actually your bf is semi-right. it was written cause one night phil saw a murder happen out on his boatcrazymerrie wrote:My boyfriend bought the greatest hits album and was blasting it from our car one day. The situation made me laugh. We are both in our early 20s and it just seemed like something people our age wouldn’t do. Some music is timeless… I’m not sure Phil Collins is.
He also told me that In the Air Tonight should be translated literally. He was certain that it was about Phil Collins’ friend who had drowned in front of another person who made no effort to try and save him. And that phil wrote the song to be performed the night that guy was at one of his shows… that he would sing it and the police would rush in and then arrest the dude… some how I don’t think that was the case.
It made me laugh though.Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.0

A very good call indeed. That Volume 1 archive box set is something else!
Phil is one hell of a drummer...good enough for Clapton!0 -
Mentioning Phil Collins....are you sure you´re a pearl jam fan?You can´t trust a vegetarian.0

I LOATH Phil Collins. almost as much as I loath Peter Gabriel, but not quite2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. wcsmith wrote:I'm a huge Genesis fan and if you think that Phil Collins is 'pure evil', simply:
1) Listen to his drumming on Foxtrot, Selling England By the Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and Trick of the Tail (also, his drumming on Peter Gabriel's "No Self Control")
2) Find the following songs: Dance on a Volcano, Ripples, One for the Vine, Star of Sirius (on Steve Hackett's "Voyage of the Acolyte"), God If I Saw Her Now, Heathaze, Many Too Many, et al.
Granted, Peter Gabriel's solo stuff is much more interesting, but it's hard to deny Phil's work with Genesis (even snippets of Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance). In my opinion, Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering are masterpieces...
I would agree with that , I love The Lamb lies down on Broadway............................but then he mysteriously morphed into Rod Stewart minus the gravel swallowing! The loss of his hair seemed to run alongside the loss of his credibility as a serious Rock artist.'All the rusted signs,we ignore throughout our lives,
Choosing the shiny ones instead'

Phil Collins. Phil Collins would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that.Cock Fight.0
