What are some good records that deal with the feelings expressed above. I am especially looking for music dealing with feelings of longing.
To start off, an example being Nick Drake's classic Pink Moon which expresses all those feelings. Very powerful record

10,000 days captures that feeling for me.0

The Doors. The End.
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."0 -
Beck's Sea Change. Beautifully agonizing from start to finish. It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.0

Dirt by Alice in chains. My favourite record of all time. Bleak is the only word for it.
The Downward Spiral by Nine inch nails. Just so depressing and claustrophobic.
Closer by Joy Division
The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers. Listen to 4st 7lb. If you don't feel some sort of emotion then you are dead."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
Pink Floyd's The Wall and/or (to a lesser extent) Dark Side of the Moon.
NIN- Downward Spiral

Great grunge-like sound. Very bleak. They're gonna tell you where to walk
When to smile and just what to say
They say have your own fun...

It's not exactly rock, but Chris Isaaks' Forever Blue is pretty much non-stop heartbreak. Some of the songs are actually a bit upbeat, but the tone of the album is pretty bleak."If you love someone... set them free. If someone loves you, don't fuck it up." - Ed0

one of the most beautiful/sad records ever made."What’s Orphans? I don’t know. Orphans is a dead end kid driving a coffin with big tires across the Ohio River wearing welding goggles and a wife beater with a lit firecracker in his ear." - Tom Waits0 -

Tool - Lateralus
Radiohead - Kid A, Hail To The Theif
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Most of it, but especially "Murder Ballads" I think.
Smashing Pumpkins - Adore (sweet relief for the soul), and the rest of their work to a lesser extent.
The Cure - Disintegration (***probably the most suited album for depression ever made***)
Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning
Neil Young - After The Goldrush
Alice in Chains - Dirt, Unplugged, Jar Of Flies
Modest Mouse - At least half of every album they've made, I suggest the middle of "Moon and Antartica" and "Lonesome Crowded West"
Beck - Sea Change (****** GORGEOUS, enlightening record******)
PJ Harvey - Is This Desire?
NIN in general
Jeff Buckley - Grace (so so so so so beautiful)Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..
