Check out Sparta. In particular Wiretap Scars.

WIRETAP SCARS!!! great record. 'Porcelin' was not a great follow up imo.

At the Drive-In's 'Relationship of Command' is one of my all time favorite records. Some of the best vocal stylings I have ever heard and probably ever will. 'In-Casino-Out' isn't bad either.

As for Mars Volta, "Deloused in the Comatorium" is a must have cd. The best way to get to know it is to listen to it all the way through in a dark room and just go with it. I liked "Frances the Mute" too, it has a real groove to it, some of the voice alterations that were just weird for the sake of weird I could have done without though.
    Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?
