Ted Leo and the Pharmacists

I didn't like LWTL much at first, it took me a couple of weeks of non-stop listening to really start to get into it. Everything except "The Unwanted Things" really eventually clicked for me, I think it's on par with Hearts of Oak which I have as being slightly worse than Tryanny and Shake The Sheets.jimed14 wrote:I'm hoping LWTL has been out long enough that he plays more of a greatest hits set than a majority from LWTL ...
There are still 3 or 4 keepers off LWTL (Sons of Cain, La Costa Brava, Bottle of Buckie) ... but, I'm hoping he does a "I'm trying to win the crowd with my best stuff" type of set. I think "Bomb, Repeat, Bomb" is a lock off LWTL.
I am also seeing him 4 times, so, mixing it up would be nice too.0 -

and yet, Hearts of Oak is my favorite.
Of the full 4 Ted Leo and the Phamacists releases ... I'd go ...
1) Hearts of Oak
2) Shake the Sheets
3) Tyranny of Distance (although, I'd love for him to open EVERY show with Biomusicaology).
4) Living with the Living"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

Downloading Shake the Streets on emusic now. I like Hearts of Oak and Tyranny of Distance quite a bit. Looks like I'll be happy to get in early for posters and have something to listen too.I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

If you listen to his Coachella set, he was fantastic, but if he sounds a little off, it was 105 or so when he hit the stage, don't think he was ready for that ...

Bumping an old thread based on the fact it appears that he's opening for PJ in Toronto.

One of the post concert threads had a post from Ted leo's site where he fully admited to sound issues for both MSG and Mansfield. Hope they worked that out.
I still think he's more of an act to see in a club, that's where he shines, but, if PJ liked him enough to bring him back, people who don't know him should give it a shot, he's great."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

I saw them open for Pearl Jam last summer (Verizon Center, Washington DC, 6/22/08) and they were damn good! I've picked up their albums since then, and they don't cease to fill my ears with bliss.
