My friends and I used to always go to midnight movies (mostly The Song Remains the Same) Anyway...I got to a point where I made it clear that I flat out refused to go to see The Wall anymore. Now that was a heavy damn movie.
(oh....and we used to make fun of the Rocky Horror people....because we were, obviously, sooooo much cooler.)

i was going to pick "twilight" by him. never have i heard a song that is as bleak and hopeless as that one. it turns my stomach sometimes. then there's the added spook factor of his suicide while working on that very album...0 -

I believe REM - Everybody Hurts is one of the most depressing songs that could ever come into my eardrums.
Alice in Chains - down in a hole is really depressing too, especially if you're struggling with any type of problems.0 -

I have to agree with this. Granted, I haven't heard all the songs listed in this thread, but this songs a killer. It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0 -
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (not just the song)

Down In A Hole, specifically the Unplugged version. Watching that kills me.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0

I Listened to Nirvanas Something In The Way on my walk home yesterday. It was raining and cold and gray and that song did me in. I ended up in a pretty low mood

I'm not sure about EVER, but 'Lucky', 'Climbing Up the Walls' or 'Tourist' by Radiohead must be contenders.
Jeff Buckley's version of 'Hallelujah' (but then again, almost anything by Leonard Cohen would qualify).
I don't find 'Hurt' by NIN depressing exactly. It's sad, sorrowful, but I don't see that as the same thing as depressing.
I can't decide if I find Clapton's 'Tears in Heaven' depressing or just 'sad', but it is powerful either way.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'
