That's right, Letterman was actually interviewed by Rolling Stone. This interview just even more secured why Letterman is tops in my book. He is the greatest after Johnny Carson.

    I have always loved Dave.

    attended live , ..., a few times.

my allegiance is to Dave always and i will still DVR every new 1st run episode nightly.

now i will have to do the same for his competiton, conan , who i also love and also have attended live a few times ( even more than Letterman but only strictly because it was easier to secure these tickets )

anyhow , on this night, kudos to animal for bringing Dave up who will unfortunately get lost in the mix tonight, for the very special and momentous occasion.

    :D

we cannot forget the history of dave and pearl jam in particular
we have literally watched them evolve

    1996 " Its a big thrill for me- "

    2000
Gotta love Mikey in this one- he goes f'n off !

    11-14-02
This has glitches, like 2 major ones, and at the end its kinda abrupt. it likely was recorded on videotape. even tho the band is pretty tight here, even on what then was a very new song- it was well rehearsed i guess.

11-15-02a this is funny strictly cuz mike and jeff are caught right in the middle of this, jeffs face is pretty funny here

    11-15-02
Dave - " here to blow the roof off the joint "
love this- they changed the lyric to cuff me - we all know the regular verse here-
but were able to make it okay for television very quick and simple .
    awesome !

    9-30-04
    Very humble and all acoustic,
powerful nonetheless.I like how Dave walks literally into the center of the circle at the end.
Even with that it was awkward,....... they all remained seated ,
at last minute Ed quickly gets up to very quietly thank Dave respectfully .

No worries. I don't have it in my sig anymore. Once Youtube got real popular, there just wasn't a reason to keep hosting it. But, it was there in my sig for many years.

Yeah, I am a huge Letterman fan. Always have been and always will be. I subscribe to the theory that you were either a Dave fan or a Jay fan....but you can't be both. And I am Dave all the way. One of my goals in life is to get to NY before Dave retires so I can catch his show live. How awesome would that be?

All that said, the hatred I have for Leno has nothing to do with Conan. I love Conan O'Brien and I think he is really funny and am really looking forward to being able to watch The Tonight Show after a 17 year hiatus. Though, I can't stay up for Dave half the time anymore, I will be DVR'ing one or the other pretty regularly.

I did really like how Conan gave Letterman all kinds of props when finishing out his last show (Dave's original show). I always really like how apparently up until the very end of Johnny's life, Carson supported David Letterman and never Jay Leno.

literally took the words right out of my mouth...leno is a douche and hasn't been funny in 25 years

conan's comedy bits are funny but his interviewing skills still suck...but he's still better than leno :D

Yeah- Johnny told Dave to walk, and also was mailing Dave jokes regularly to use in the monologues.

That HBO movie really showed the timing and storylines very well.Big cast including kate bates and rich little as johhny- Nicely done.
The other actors even resembled the players-

Yeah, I love how Johnny was sending Dave jokes to use on the air. And how, right after Johnny passed away, Dave's monologue was all Carson jokes...and they were FUNNY! Johnny never lost it. I thought Dave's tribute show to Johnny after his passing was great too with Peter Lasalle and I think one of Johnny's ex-wives who he stayed real close with.
