maybe a long shot on a rock band board, but ya never know. I have been shooting for about 5 years..mostly architecture but have recently been hooked on macro and wildlife.

si, si.....and not really so out of left field on a rock band's message board.
i think actually there are quite a few of us here, many do, or used to anyway, post on the art wall forum.
while i do not work professionally, i've been a photo buff most of my adult life, and did go for my MA in photography. it was 'related' to my profession - art teacher - for a decade, tho nowadays i am entirely out of the art field. however, while i earm my paycheck elsewhere, my passions always lie within the art world. :)

architecture and nature are my fave subjects...
and funny on the macro and wildlife kick. a VERY good friend of mine from college is a HUGE fan of macro-insect photography, some truly stunning work. he's actually taught a few macro workshops for his old employer.

oops...i had meant to 'edit' not make another post. eh well.......

Your Chicago photos are fucking incredible.

Just thought I'd toss that in. And mention that when I first say the subject line I was scanning and saw another word looking like "p___ography" and was halfway to a "hell yes" response before I caught myself and read more carefully.

    I am.

Or maybe I should say "was"

I've been so terribly uninspired lately. It's been going on for months now and it's starting to depress me. When I do shoot, I generally enjoy it, but it's become a real chore to process the photos and I'm more often than not fairly unimpressed with the results.

    I have work on flickr...

I've done work with a few local rock bands...but my primary interest lies in landscape photography...nothing gives me the feeling that I get when I capture the perfect, most satisfying landscape...

A lot of my stuff can be see in the 'some things to look at' thread on the Art Wall

I hear that :(...if you're serious about it, photography takes a lot of time and effort, and frankly...money for decent equipment.

ugh no kidding. I'm perfectly fine with putting in the time and effort, but prime lens run into the thousands....like $5-8 thousand :o

that is holding me back in becoming an avid bird photographer.

Just got an entry level Sony SLR for Xmas this year for my trip to Europe this summer, and I'm definitley enjoying it! I play music, but photography is another great creative outlet. I like doing the architecture, haven't had a lot of time to do the nature stuff. Definitley something I'd love to learn more about/get better at!

Ah yeah, the money thing too... my long-distance relationship has also bumped my photog expenditures to the backburner too. Still, I'm happy enough with my gear, I've just lost the passion. And really, I grew tired of shooting local bands in shitty clubs- even though I've been able to shoot a lot of up & comers that way. I had a taste of shooting at proper venues with proper lighting like Wembley Arena and Brixton Academy. It's hard to be satisfied shooting in some little shit-hole following that.

Yeah, that's what is holding me back, and abusing my passion is my lack of good gear...which has led me to start aiming at a different road...I'm planning on diving into some graphic design courses at a local community college and seeing what happens.

You're butterfly shots are fantastic, by the way. Truly inspirational to a person like myself, who can appreciate macro...but doesn't do much of it

I'm lacking a good zoom lens right now, and it's totally holding me back :x

I've lately found myself really into night/skyline photography.....but i've found some obstacles in getting good results without a lens with a long focal length.

Sure am.... check out my site, I have been shooting for about 11 years or so professionally. I used to shoot for a lot of newpapers and some mags. I also shoot weddings for some cash( I actually enjoy it as well) and I am adding that stuff to my site now. I have some other stuff on my site also, a lot of stuff from travel or my night photography.

    Yoke's stuff is awesome!

I'm dabbling - stil in the early learning stages, but finding a passion for things that move! Be it gig photography (which I would love to get into properly and get some passes to get my DSLR into the gigs instead of my little point and shoot!), birds, sport. As long as it's moving I love trying to get a good shot.

    Got my stuff in a couple of places;

right now I am just using a Canon 40D, 15/2.8 fisheye and a 28-70/2.8. I just sold my 70-200/2.8 on the bay last week. I have really shrunk my gear over the past 6 months. I am finding I don't use a lot of stuff so why keep it.

    Current Setup
    Canon 40D
    Remotes
    15mm 2.8 Fisheye
    28-70mm 2.8
    SPL Water Housing(fits my 40D)
580ex flash(don't really use it all to much but I need to keep it).

    Past Setup
    Canon 20D, 10D, MarkII
    Canon 15mm
    Canon 28-70
    Canon 100-400
    Canon 85mm
    Canon 16-35
    Canon 70-200
    Lights
    battery packs
    4 550ex flashes
and a whole bunch of other stuff

I am going to grab a 5D Mark II, actually 2 of them. I will grab a few other smaller lenses. I like to go wide and get in tight if possilbe and I really like primes whenever possible. I will probalby grab a new 70-200 2.8 but with the IS. Also, will grab a 300 2.8 down the road and just get a 1.4 converter. Hmm... what else, nothing I guess other then its bedtime I am wiped out.
