Conan O'Brien could have chosen any musical guest he wanted as the new host of the venerable Tonight Show. So who did he pick for his premiere show tonight?
Pearl Jam.
The Seattle-based band, which for years has played almost exclusively on "Late Night with David Letterman," will break in the new's studio stage with a song — to be called "The Fixer" — from their as-yet-untitled studio album, to be released in the fall.
The band also played a "secret show" last Thursday at the Showbox in Seattle, which bloggers reported was a concert-like Target commercial directed by Cameron Crowe, who put Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament in his 1992 Seattle-based film "Singles," and who produced "Single Video Theory," the 1998 documentary about the making of the album "Yield."
