used to have half a chance when you were able to utilize out of state
regional TM phone numbers
now they discontinued that and refer everyone and anyone on this earth to a 1-800 number.

Gimme a fucking breaK , we need a new system , and we need it quick .

( PJs about to Tour )

Its seems futile, with the monopoly that TM has, I know this is beating a dead horse but c'mon,.

edit : * using 2 computers with 4 different browsers open and running on full power,

the 15 minutes or MORE would count you down to 2 or 3 minutes, then go back to 15 for another 20 minutes. The system is fucked.
These prime seats were up on websites before they went onsale to the General public
Mysteriously nobody ( okay perhaps a very lucky fortunate few ) pulled prime seats today , all uppers and nosebleeds AT THE HUGE STADIUM .
this blows

lets have some evolution, baby.

I agree...AC/DC tix went onsale a while back here....they sold like 70k (?) in MINUTES. oh, I mean 70k after 18 pre-sales and a couple of minutes...I've never seen a stadium show sell out anywhere NEAR that fast here.
Now they're having all these 'oh, we found more tickets' sales...

One thing I will say...that show was the only one I've been completely shut out of in ages...BUT...that's because I've joined 18 gazillion mailing lists to make sure I hear about pre-sales in advance. I havne't bought public-sale tickets to a show in ages...the one time I tried, I got shutout.

Until we stop using ticketmaster, they will not change. Cut into their profits by not attending shows, and things will change. But everyone has to do this. In the past couple of years, the only shows I've gone to are when Tickets are arranged by tenclub. I've made sacrifices by missing some big shows, But I refuse to pay ticketmaster ridiculous fees any more.

Hey there's always that breath of fresh air LiveNation, who now exclusively sells the tix to their venues.
Of course their website is worse than TM's and their fees are a tad higher.

For certain shows, but for the venues they own it has its own piss poor ticketing system.

The BOSS ACT, to be introduced in Congress Tuesday, requires the Federal Trade Commission to create rules for the primary and secondary markets.

The bill will force primary sellers to disclose at least seven days in advance of a sale the total capacity and the number of tickets being sold to the general public and the number sold through fan clubs, presales or held for promoters and artists. The primary ticket seller must disclose all ancillary charges and print them on the ticket. If a concert or event is canceled, the primary ticket seller must refund all charges, not just the base ticket cost.

In the secondary market, the bill requires brokers to register with the federal government, disclose the original purchase price of the ticket and how they obtained the ticket. They also must disclose the exact location of the ticket and whether they possess the ticket at the time of the sale.

I wish that there could be another system, or something. Even if Ticketmaster just got revamped to be more fair. It sucks that they have the market pretty cornered.

I used Live Nation, from work on a laptop using Wii system ,
for Ed Solo at Tower Theatre in Philly next week.
Little slower loading pages and all - didnt think id have any luck,
BOOM ! Landed a pair in the orchestra right up front, on the left side/.

The system is slightly differnet than TM.
If anyone wants or needs to use this system ,
    Do yourself a favor:

    1. Create a user account at Live Nation - it will simplify things.
    2. Search for tickets for some other show a couple of times. The purchase process is a little different than TM so you will want to get used to it.

They let you select your seats and sections there, and they give you 10 minutes to look around as opposed to TM s 2 .
You also can keep tickets in your cart, and still look for others before purchasing,
It Has ups and downs just like TM.

Why would another system be better? In Ottawa we have Capital Tickets (which has the big arena here covered). Their service charges are pretty much on par with what TM would charge.

Yeah... same with Tickets.com, same with Musictoday, same with Live Nation Ticketing... fees aren't much different across the board.

    read today:

Ticketmaster is using the Cyrus tour to rollout its biggest experiment in paperless ticketing yet in an effort to limit ticket scalping. According to a press release, "All tickets will be sold exclusively through paperless ticket delivery which means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event." Ticket buyers will be required to bring the credit card used making the purchase and a photo ID to the concert venue in order to gain entry. All groups must enter the concerts together, and ushers will issue "seat locator slips."
