Above The Law

The man who is the prime suspect in the murder of Dr. George Tiller can claim that he is not subject to the laws to which other Merriam, KS residents (I live in Merriam, KS), other Kansas residents (again, I live in Kansas), and United States residents are subject. The Kansas City Star reports that the alleged gunman is "involved in the Freemen movement. 'Freemen' was a term adopted by those who claimed sovereignty from government jurisdiction and operated under their own legal system, which they called common-law courts."

Wow. Now I know that the next time the Merriam Police stop me for a speeding ticket, I will claim that I am not subject to goverment jurisdiction.

Me: "Officer, you have no jurisdiction over me. I am involved with the Freemen movement."

Officer: "Well then, just be careful, OK?"

right.... :(

Acquaintences also told the Star that the accused believes in justifiable homicide. no shit.

Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

That thread has turned into an abortion debate. I meant to bring attention to the "Freemen" views of the alleged gunman.

My gut tells me the judge will not be particularly convinced by that one. My cynicism tells me there are already people out there viewing him a hero and a martyr and agreeing with his justifiable homicide stance.

I figured I would hear someone defend it sooner or later. Tuned into the local talk show radio station (KMBZ) in KC for the 2 o'clock show. Both of the hosts are conservative, but by no stretch are they wacko nut jobs. They do field many callers and allow free expression of views.

A caller just finished. His name was Anthony and he is claiming to be interviewed by various news organizations due to his anti-abortion activism.

In a nutshell, he stated that the killing was justified because Tiller had killed 55,000 to 100,000 babies. He also stated that the Lutheran church Tiller attended was not a valid church founded on the teachings of Christ.

    :?

Again, another person using pretzel logic to place such actions Above The Law.

THAT really is it, isn't it?
i mean, in reality.....true *logic* of it, would not come to the 'simple conclusion' that this docotor 'killed babies' at all, but once again....more about saving/safe-guarding women's lives, who's pregnancies obviously were a grave risk for them. might be nice that those with 'agenda's would actually read up on some laws, and even more....what actually is being done and why...before they go off on a 'justified killing.' tragic and sad.

sidenote - pure curiosity - WHO exactly gets to determine what is "a valid church founded on the teachings of Christ".......?

^^^^^^ right, seeing as how all religions are just an uncomfirmed thought, i as an athiest would say all churches were not valid.

I think it's time we all started living above the law-- politicians, corrupt law enforcement, and scumbag CEOs have been doing it for years.
