People, GROW UP
Ok, let me start of by saying this is the first post that I've actually decided to swear this much because the sheer stupidity of so many people here is appalling.
Based on the band solely selling their album at target, how can you say that they are now deciding to ignore their fan base and the music? It's a fucking marketing job, that's it. Get your heads out of your asses (you all know who you are), and grow up. Yeah, the band is/was/(whatever you want) anti-corporate. Here's the thing, though: THEY HAVE SOLD ALL THEIR ALBUMS AT THESE STORES FOR 20 YEARS! Simply because they are choosing to sell the album exclusively means they came to some sort of arrangement, something that works out beneficially for both parties, and they are simply trying to get their music out in another fashion. Selling your album without a major label is difficult and expensive. To have a financial backer relieves much of the burden of that. What, is everyone going to boycott the band now? Give me a break! Seriously, grow up, try and understand that everyone's ideals and desires work together and they're doing something they see as uncompromising and in the best position for themselves and their fans.
As far as more expensive EV solo shows, grow a fucking brain! He's going on tour by himself, and still has a massive touring group with him for lighting, stage set up, instruments, etc. For these people, it's their fucking job! For people that seem to be so "anti-corporate", you morons seem to really not like people getting paid for the job they have.

I'm sorry if I came off a bit harsh, but this was in response to that "target" thread that was locked a few minutes ago.

for a band that was promoting Independent Record Store Day on their site a few weeks
ago may be inking an exclusive deal with a big box retailer.
Just saying...
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...
That's thing though; it's just for retail. The band will still be selling their album on their site and the other normal ways we all get the albums. I mean, really, when was the last time you went to a record store and saw a decrease in the PJ material they have? The only PJ vinyl I've seen in a long time was the new ten re-issue, and those aren't exactly flying off the shelves for those people that aren't us 10C. As far as cd's go, same thing; in those small stores, those cd''s aren't flying off the shelves. At target, they're not wasting their albums and leaving them to sit there for years to not be bought.
