hey guys...

this is a question for those upstairs in canada... just drinking my favorite beer right now... labatt blue... and realized that the label says its brewed in toronto... is the brewery in toronto proper... or on the outskirts... i would love to vist, if at all possible, the brewery (a la the simpsons) and take a tour... have a few before the pj show...

is this at all possible???
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

It is not downtown but is in Toronto. It's right off the 401 which is Ontario's main freeway. Try a Moosehead...green bottle...nice taste.

thanks for the info... is that far from the downtown area? about how long of a cab ride and how much $ would that cost to get over there... do they have public tours there? Ill def try the moosehead, but i am hellbent on labatt... been drinking this stuff for close to ten years now as i attended college in upstate ny and labatt was more than readily avail... i want tshirts and labatt on tap drunkeness

I know of it, but I didn't grow up here so I'm not too familiar with the schools.

And Syracuse isn't upstate, it's Central NY. :D

Try to find a Steelback if you can. Used to be really shitty but they overhauled everything but the name (last year, I think) . Now its become one of my favourite Canadian beers.
    mmmmmm.... beer.

For those going up to the show, try the steam whistle brewery tour, which is right near the Rogers Centre. You and your buzz won't be disappointed (that's if it is still open)

The Steamwhistle tour is excellent. They give you two free samples just for walking in the door (and more if you take the tour). Mill Street is also brewed in Toronto, I haven't been on their tour but they make excellent beer.

we got there realll early for our tour, and they literally just kept letting us drink. it was awesome. I was there about a year and a half ago, and i think they have expanded since

    Bleh.

I'm Canadian and I hate most of the big name generic Canadian beers. Labatt's Blue, Molson Canadian, LGD, kokanee etc... they're all not that good. Light years better then American beer (which isn't hard to do) but on the grand scale of global beer they aren't in the ballpark.

I think the best generic Canadian beer would be Alexander Keith's, then you get into the premium beers Sleeman's has some good brews.

Most of my favorites are imported.. Heineken, Amstel, Guiness, Boddington's, Corona.

I think Canadian beer gets a better wrap than it deservers, just because its way better than US beer, but I think we as Canadian's overrate our domestic beers :)
