Probably one of my biggest "guilty pleasures" of all time. In fact, I wouldn't even consider them that. They're a great pop rock band and one of the best live acts around these days. They never put the same record out twice. They have one of the most under appreciated albums of the 90's in "How Does Your Garden Grow?" (which, if you haven't heard it, is one hell of a artistic piece of work) and possibly one of the best "summer road trip" albums ever in "Closer".

They just put out a great new album called "Paper Empire" and if you're in search of a great summer cd...I highly suggest it. They're also touring this summer and if they're around and you got the spare change and time...you wouldn't be let down.

I've always wanted to see them. I picked up Paper Empire last week and it's a great disc.

I wouldn't call them a guilty pleasure. They are a truly great band, period. It's funny when you mention them all most people can thing of them singing is "Good". Every one of their albums is top notch. And I agree, Closer is one of the greatest fun party rock albums. Anyone who considers themselves a modest fan must get this album. I downloaded their new album Paper Empire a few weeks ago and have probably listened to it 10x already. Very good.

"Closer" is actually going to be getting re-released sometime soon. The label went belly up shortly after it came out and the album was pulled from the shelves. The band has reached some type of legal deal to re-release the album and they are going to be adding some bonus tracks onto it. My guess on the bonus tracks are "Cars Crash" (outtake from the album that they had on their website for a while) and "Dirty Work", a Steely Dan cover

I freaking love this band! I've listened to Paper Empire at least 5 times and it just keeps getting better. Lots of fun songs that I can picture them playing live. My wife and I are going to see them in a few weeks and I can't wait! We saw them back in 2004 and the energy at that show was just amazing.

I think it's funny when I mention them to friends and the response is "they're still around?". They don't know what they're missing out on.

BTE rocks - and as an LSU grad living in Louisiana, it's good to see them getting some love from outside the Pelican State! They're a great live act - no two shows are ever the same... bringing people onstage to play the cowbell during "Don't Fear The Reaper," making up a reggae version of "Good" because it seemed like a good idea at the time, scantily-clad naughty Mrs. Santas dancing on stage during their Christmas show two years ago, songs written about road trips to watch LSU play Ole Miss in football ("This Time of Year"), 'name that drum beat' competitions, their obsession with Cat Stevens... and the music, ranging from quirky and funny ("Extra Ordinary") to dark and disturbed ("King of New Orleans" and "Rosealia"). Just a kick ass band all around - I'm glad I'm not the only fan on this board :)
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

saw these guys about 10 years ago at Buzzfest in Houston along with collective soul, sponge, the flys and others. BTE was amazing. They had just released "how does your garden grow" and I have been meaning to see them live again. They are coming to the House of Blues here soon and if I don't have to work and funds allow it, I may go. I would like to anyway. "Desperatley wanting" is still one of my favorite songs- love that one.
