Bonnaroo Tickets Compared to Last Year

Just got this in an email from Roo:

"We want to give everyone a heads up that tickets for this year's festival are selling at a brisk pace...outpacing last year's sales significantly."

I don't know about everyone else, but I thought with PJ in the line-up last year, it was a better line-up

Conversation held in Bonnaroo headquarters before this email was sent out........

"Guys, ticket sales are down significantly from last year. What can we do to increase ticket sales?"

"I know, let's make people nervous and make them think it's selling out quickly and people who are on the fence about going will jump right in and buy tickets now!"

Just a hunch, but with the economy in the shape it is these days, a lot less people are travelling to festivals and are going to be having a lot more "staycations" this summer.

Plus there are a lot of tickets on ebay for face value or slightly above. Last year I waited until a few weeks before and got a ticket for about $220! I agree that last year's lineup was better, but it will still be a good time no matter what...2 weeks away!

Phish fans are crazy. They probably are getting close to a sell out. Went last year, but skipping because 1)Phis x 2 and 2) crazy ass price of tickets
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

I think overall the lineup this year is much better than last year. This year there is two great headliners, while last year there was one great headliners and two decent ones. This year's underbill (minus MMJ, Sigur Ros, and a few others) is much better than last years, but hey that's just my opinion.

going this year for the 1st time. wished I could have made it last year but the circumstances didn't work out. That being said, despite having PJ, MMJ, DCFC, and other great sets last year, I think overall this year's lineup is much more stacked. The BOSS, Phish x2, NIN, Beasties, Byrne, Harper, moe. -fuhgettaboutit!

Phish is definitely the reason for the increase in ticket sales. It is going to be a crazier festival this year for sure. When Trey came to Atlanta and played the Tabernacle, that small part of town turned into something that you wouldn't believe if you didn't see it.

  • I live about a hour north of Manchester, and I'm probably not going to Bonnaroo this year, I think the lineup is pretty off from last year, and 5 of my friends that went with me last year feel the same and are sitting this one out.

The line ups are comparable. This year top end is better than last year.

    PJ=Bruce
    Metalica<Phish
    WSP<Phish
    JJ<Beasties
    Kanye<NIN

However, last years mix of indie/ new alt. bands was far superior making it a deeper lineup.

Either way, Bonnaroo is only 13 days away. I'm so pumped.

Yeah, I'm not buyin' the email saying tickets are selling faster so "you better hurry". It's just a marketing tactic. I *do* think without Phish the sales would be worse, but I'm thinking attendance won't be too different from last year.

I'm going again this year, although it won't be the same without PJ. Having sai that, since I don't have any band that I'm going to see specifically, I'll be able to relax and enjoy new bands :)

Last year is going to be tough to top, but I was on a mission last year. I was so damn driven to get up front for PJ. I agree it will be great to relax a little more. I think that MGMT and Outernational are the only bands at Roo that I have seen before. So it will be awesome to sse a bunch of bands that I have yet to experience live.

Just for the record, they number the tickets. Somebody on the Inforoo board has one over 71,000. So I'm thinking they are not bs-ing with the email.

The unscientific study being done on inforoo makes believe that they started at one and went upward. Most tickets are in order from when they were purchased. There are some outliers, but I think they will go over 80,000 this year.

I can't believe people think this years lineup comes close to last years.

All my friends where all pumped to go back this year and they released this lineup. Between the 4 of us, I think we counted a combine 4 bands that we wanted to see....needless to say we were massively disappointed with this lineup...mostly because people make a big deal about having Phish and Bruce - two bands that I absolutely can't stand - especially Phish...

Last years Roo and Lolla lineups the two most stacked lineups I have ever seen..

Huh. Interesting. Wouldn't my tix be sequential, then? I did get mine a week or so after the initial onsale (and there was a presale before that), but I have a hard time believing 70,000+ had been sold by that point.
