and I must say, what a lovely city you guys Seattleites have! Jennifer and I spent 11 hours on Saturday just walking around and checking everything out. Stopped in at the aquarium, the Space Needle, went to the Folk Life festival and I made a point to stop by Easy Street Records.

Seriously though, what an awesome city...we both kept saying how whenever the day comes that we move form the Salt Lake valley, that's where we'd like to relocate to. We spent our nights in Renton. I was just overwhelmed by the coolness of the city and the overall vibe. We both agreed that not many cities we've been to have a certain vibe to it, but Seattle is one of them.

It was a little intimidating the first night being a Friday night, and the streets were crazy busy, also asked by some front tooth missing homeless guy across the street from Pike Place if we had any pot or "powda"...but I got adjusted quickly...it seems that every city I go to homeless people single me out. I must stand out as some nice guy from Utah, lol.

Pike Place was fucking awesome...ah! Can't put into words the feeling that this city gave me. So much fun! Perhaps we will be there one day.

The only downfall to the trip is that we weren't able to get any tickets to the Showbox Melvins/Green River show...oh well though, it was short notice after all.

We made up for that though by gaining a new friend, whom we now call "Powda". :D:D:D

    Two things:

Please don't tell me you didn't go to the Red Hook brewery!

Your powder story reminded me of this: I was on a medical call in the predominantly African American part of town....my Paramedic is about about as pale as they come...the big female black patient (think Eddie Murphy in drag) was getting irritated and says to him "listen here, Powder." I about died.

I'm sorry to disappoint you...I saw that place, and really wanted to go...BUT...I'm not quite 21 yet (August 17th is the b-day)....so I assumed I wouldn't be getting very far with exploring that place

It certainly won't be my only time in that city though, I fucking loved it.

    that IS!
also, my husband gets that too(i'm just as fair as he is)......so he's gotten that same comment. it IS funny, but yea....does make you wonder, if one was to trun around and tell a really, really dark african american just how 'black' he was, wonder how well that would go over? :? however, i digress from the humor, my apologies....merely observation.

that said....not even 21? sheesh........
(you're bday is actually the same as my most fave aunt rose, now deceased)

as to seattle: i was only there for a few days, right before the gorge in 2005 and my mini western canada pj tour. truly beautiful city! relly enjoyed it, has it's own unique flavor...and i dare i call a city quaint? it just had a real sweet, homey and friendly feel to it. truly enjoyed it and definitely want to go back again in the future, bring my husband along this time, see friends, and have an extended exploration of the city itself.

btw - i hear you speak of *vibe*...have you ever been to NYC? merely curious. i think most cities have their own vibe, and i am certainly not about turning this into a NYC thing...it was merely curiosity on my part b/c i have found most who have visited here have said the *vibe* is unreal, from anywhere else, and i tend to agree. that said, seattle is most definitely a fabulous city...i love the city feel, connected so well to the feeling of nature too!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

I heard one brother at work say of another "he's so black, when he gets out of the car the oil light comes on."

P.S. Seattle, SF, Boston, Chicago, NYC....they all have "vibes." Even Salt Lake has a vibe.

I love Seattle! Two visits to date ('03 and '05) and today I went and booked another for the end of the summer. I cannot wait! (although yes, I am wracked with guilt about the carbon footprint aspect).

I remember the first time I went, I just felt so at home - more than I ever have here. Second time, thought it probably wouldn't feel the same...but it did. Love love love it.
Try to tell me that you love me, throw your little punches at me...

They were really good! Though I saw them with an amazing Doors cover band and they were spectacular!!

Overall, a great night of music.

Only city I'd ever move to. I loved it when I visted there. I loved safeco field. haven't seen a game for that cheap in ages. Good beer at the ballpark. I hope to be out there for a few days again
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

I think 40 or something. I was so shocked when I saw it said 7.00 on the ticket.

WOW, 40 bucks for the bleachers!?!?!

Damn, we've got it good at The Safe. Plus, I love how you can pay less than 10 bucks and then go watch the game from anywhere in the park.

It tends to happen after you visit this place, one is smitten. I moved her in 2002.

Your right, it's a great city......I love it here. Too bad you didn't get to West Seattle, which is my favorite neighborhood.

I'll pull a "debbie downer" on you and say this, just be glad your weren't visiting in October-December. It can cause some to go mad!
