Spotify - good or bad?
I don't know if someone has started this before but I downloaded Spotify the other day to see what it was like and sort of forgot about it. I started to look for bands who I have been reccommended and when they are on the system, it's a great chance to hear the album in full (with a few ads thrown in ever half hour or so which isn't that much of a problem) before deciding to buy a ticket to see them live or buy/download the album. I think it's a pretty good thing, although I wouldn't be surprised if the record industry isn't that keen!

Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.

I actually don't know how I did without it...just now hoping for a good mobile version.
p.s. it also has the entire PJ (official record releases) catalogue, and had the remixed Ten right at the release.

I view it as a positive industry standard for dealing with piracy.
However, I don't think that people should be charged for it... if people are charged for streaming music they are going to go back to pirating.
I download albums all the time but more than half of them I either don't end up listening to or just flat out don't like... this would normally be considered an impulse buy, which has saved me a lot of money in the long run... however, if I have a way (like Spotify) to listen to the music before I buy it, then I will most likely be more apt to going out and buying a hard copy of the album... that's just how I operate, but I'm certain many others feel the same way.
Bad points..
The adverts suck, i have problems with my soundcard, so it says and when i double click the song it restarts and plays normal. Not every album and band i listen to is up there. Also i dont know what KBs the music files are in, they are pretty high but meh, more compressed music to my hears.
not sure where ur based, but I thought that most places don't require an invite any more - at least in the UK u dont need one.
Actually, there is a piano version of Ten on there...I put it on shuffle to see if I could guess the track..Jeremy was obvious, quite tricky on the whole
And you don't need invites...just register.
EDIT::: It's not Piano version of Ten, it's a Piano Tribute to Pearl Jam, tracklisting:
Black
Jeremy
Nothingman
Corduroy
Betterman
Daughter
Small Town
Immortality
Alive

they probably just haven't worked out the exact fees yet, I'm sure it'll be up and running soon, based on its success in other countries
