I fucking LOVE Pearl Jam!!!
I don't say it enough......
But i was just in a long music discussion with a friend here at work and she was telling me about how her favorite band is like Aerosmith and AC/DC...both fine bands. And AC/DC is really a terrific long standing band that I also really like. But Aerosmith? This girl is only like 25 or 26 and for her to be into has-been bands (okay, again that is directed at Aerosmith) and completely be oblivious to anything from the 90's just blows my mind.
I was trying to convey (without sounding like a freak) to her how awesome Pearl Jam really is...still, after all these years. And she said that she is not even sure of any songs they do. Which of course just makes me twitch uncontrollably. Mainly because I know it just has to be from her lack of exposure to their catalog of amazing music. How anyone can claims they are a fan of real rock and roll, but yet either doesn't like Pearl Jam or is not at all familiar with their music, is beyond me.
So, now i am at my desk eating my lunch listening to PJ's Gorge show from 2006 and coming to the (long known) realization that attending a Pearl Jam concert for me is as a religious-type experience that moves me in a way not many other things in this life can.
Thank you Pearl Jam for continuing to be a band and deliver us, your fans, some of the greatest feelings ever. Thank you!

Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
+1
didnt eddie vedder go solo or something?
So why be satisfied?
I know it my favorite band and all, but the transcend different genres, bring it live, etc, etc, etc. There are a handful of bands that I think are must likes if you are a fan of rock. PJ is one of them.
Though I'm sure someone, somewhere on a Creed message board is typing the same thing about them. So I dont get too worked up if someone isnt in tho PJ. If they say that PJ sucks though, well, those are fighting words.
those PJ guys are kinda good too
you going to Chicago shows with your buddy Cheese Tape?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgKZh6XBDz8
Eddie is just doing a solo tour, thats all.
I'm not gonna knock Aerosmith, but they never made anything as good as Highway To Hell or Back In Black. I'm pretty sure Toys In The Attic is about the only thing worth considering.
PJ are definitely a class act
poor aNiMaL, still foolishly holding out hope for proper Seattle shows,...

!
2010 - Newark 5/18 MSG 5/21
2011 - PJ20 9/3-9/4
2012 - MIA Festival 9/2
2013 - Wrigley Field 7/19 Brooklyn 10/18-10/19 Philly 10/22
2015 - Colbert show - 9/23 Global Citizens Festival 9/26
2016 - Philly 4/28-4/29 MSG 5/1-5/2
seems pretty clear (unless the situation has changed) that PJ and Management want nothing to do with the Key Arena folk; still, it would be nice to visit Seattle again for a hometown show, while at the same time i'm hoping for a chance to catch PJ at the Gorge at least once,...

but I have ascended with my eyes rolling to the back of my head and my body flying into space repeatedly at Pearl Jam concerts
It is too good.
That's the fix
anyway ...
I used to not like Pearl Jam too much
It was Yield that got me hooked. I was 19 when ten came out- it was awesome but i never owned it. I did like Neil Young though. (Buffalo Aud in 1989 wow that was awesome)
anyway...
I remeber hearing live PJ before I knew the songs well and it really didn't grab me in those days.
Eddie has the best voice in all of musical history but it is distictive and I know a lot of people that don't like it too much.
strange I know
hard to imagine really.
those pre PJ days
I must have been a real idiot.

Highway to hell was a suck album...Back in Black is a great album..but Aerosmith's Rocks is just as good if not better...and Get your wings is awesome..just seasons of wither alone smokes all of highway to hell! and if you wanna go the greatest hits route...it's not even a competition! i like me some ac/dc...and i listen to almost everything, but let's be realistic here.
I really fucking love the new song "Got Some." The whole band sounded awesome on Conan!! I hope they do a Letterman appearance still for this record. Dave deserves to hear it live on his show too.
I couldn't be more excited for their new album. Cover art looks really cool. Love that the band is doing it all themselves this time around. I have no issues at all with their Target deal....especially since they will also be selling the album themselves and through indie stores.
Thank you Pearl Jam for...well, for everything!! Keep on rocking!!!
See you in Seattle this fall!!!!
glad the band is once again ready to play Key Arena! see you there in September,...

so this new found love wouldn't have anything to do with the rumors of the Seattle shows would it?
No, this thread started off as I stated in the opening post on My 27th. We didn't hear the rumor about the Key Arena until 3 days later on the May 30th. But that is incredibly cool!
I have heard or read countless times of individuals, bands or single musicians that have said they dont care at all for the music that Pearl Jam produces, HOWEVER, they always follow that up by saying they have a lot of respect for them as musicians...........I dont think there can be a higher compliment since obviously everyone wont like the music but that anyone with any talent or respect for talent openly recognizes what is present in this band.
There are some bands I somehow just dont like (dont shoot me)- like Ben Harper or Radiohead.......I have gone and would still go to their concerts, and as musicians (well, Radiohead) I know that an amazing talent is present,...I just dont get moved by it or find that it resonates or opens new emotions etc.....
BUT, there are some bands that you can dislike, and have no respect for, because of their goal, their message, their attitude, their composition on and on. Everyone has talent at some level, but I can honestly say I have no respect for Limp Bizquit, Creed, Billy Corgan and that I dont think they are talented. Can they play music? Yes. SO does my two year old.
I think anyone that says a band sucks and wont expand either has a mommy issues, a small penis, or issues with their mommy's small penis.
I saw a wino eating grapes, I said, "Dude, you have to wait"
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
I totally Agree! I grew up with both of my parents die hard Aerosmith fans. And while I too have never listened to Honkin' On Bobo more then 5 times at best, I still love all of their old stuff. The Get a Grip album was the first album I ever really connected with musically. Other kids had Barney, and The Wiggles. I had Aerosmith!
...But Pearl Jam has become my religion ever since I've ever laid ears on that beautiful sound they call music.
