For all you haters and lovers of our captain, I have a question.

Even if you hate him because your a Sox fan or a Mets fan, or whomever, do you hate him because of his personality? Do you regard him as a class act?

Because I do regard him as a class act, and I don't even like him that much as a Yankee fan. I can understand if your a Sox fan and you HATE him, but do you really? Or is it because of his playing? I never hated Manny, Ortiz, or Nomar. I always thought Nomar was better, until he just got hurt and was awful. Ortiz is a good guy, Manny in my opinion is one of the greatest hitters of all time, I can't hate a guy like that...yeah he's shit on us for years but still...

Oh, you mean the way Nomar mysteriously was unbelievable for those number of years in Boston - not to mention Manny, Papi, and Pedro. No, it wasn't steroids at all. No, not one bit.

Anyway, hate the Yankees but Jeter's too much of a solid ballplayer and apparent person to hate other than for the sole reason of being a Yankee.

Let me start by saying I HATE the Yankees and LOVE the Red Sox. Jeter is great ballplayer who goes about playing the game the right way. He doesn't talk crap about anyone, he leads by working his butt off!! Trust me if we could have him in Boston, I would in a second!!! :D

You read that story on Page 2 as well? He's right. I don't think Manny did it, his numbers are still incredible and were when he was in Cleveland. Pedro...ehhh who knows but does steroids make his curve as good as it was? Does it make his change-up as slow as a broken down car?

Pedro's always had movement. He still does. But for a guy his size to be throwing 97-98. And Simmons just confirms my claim. Anyway, only now Manny's getting snitched upon....FOUR TIMES normal testosterone levels....four....times. But, I really don't care, I'm just being a dick. F the Yankees, F the Sawx.

I'm a Red Sox fan and hate the Yankees but I don't hate Jeter or Rivera. I have both on my fantasy team this year and sometime players are that good that they can transcend the line from being a hated rival to a respected opponent.

The original post is somewhat bizarre, as, I think even most Sox fans respect Jeter. ("Jeter swallows" shirts aside)

Yeah, we'd love him to go 0 - 5 in any game against the Sox, but, there is no hate there, as mentioned several times, he's a home grown Yankee that has had a great career, has a heart of a lion, and sports a few rings ... if there's any hate going on, it's mostly out of jealousy.

A-Rod on the other hand, he's a douche. :D But I think even most Yankee fans would agree with that one.

Agreed! I'm a yankee fan and when A-rod said he was leaving the yankees during the world series I was so freaking happy. But then they go and sign him again and shatter my hopes of having him off the team. A-rod is all about his own stats and accolades rather than the team... at least that's how I see it.

And back on topic I think like everyone's already said. I think there are teams that people don't like. But a good and respectable player isn't hated by fans because of rivalries. I didn't like Pedroia mainly because I hate the red sox but then I saw him interviewed and he seems like a nice guy and he's a pretty good ball player so yeah I don't really hate him I hate the fact that he is playing well on the red sox :p

For the life of me why does one has use the term HATE when speaking about sports teams ? To me it is such a negative and inciteful word and you've used it atleast 5 times here. The term I'd rather use instead would be dislike and that's the way I'd discribe the Yankees. I disliked the decisions George W Bush made but I didn't care to be hateful towards him, he's still human sort of.

As for Jeter he neither liked or disliked he's well repected in my books. My 12 year old Daughter loves him, A-Rod and the rest of the Yankees. He's the one player on the Yankees that I fear when they play the Red Sox. Mainly due to the fact he can change the game on the dime with his play, leadership and tenacity towards winning. In a dream world (Matrix) he's the one player on the Yankees I'd love to see play on the Red Sox cause he's ALL about winning.

Quick story last week I was in New Jersey and while riding around the neighborhood I came across 2 trucks with Red Sox stickers ALL over them. The guy had even more than I did, I smiled but he also had some degrading the Yankees. To me what's the point there's already enough hate in this world, it's just sports it's not a life and death decision one might have to make for your child. If one has to stoop to degradation of another team or opponent then to me that person isn't a true fan of their hometeam.

On ALL the Boston Sports teams that I love I will not put a players name on my jerseys. These players are so interchangeable these days and if Jeter became a Red Sox I'd just use his number.

What would you do if Marty Brodeur was traded to your team, would you still want beat him then after wishing you Happy Birthday?

I don't hate anybody in the game in the definition of hate. The hate that most people have when they boo is more of a sign of frustration who always kills your team with big hits, big plays that cause them lose. Obviously admitted steroid users deserve their boos, but guys like Jeter and Rivera should never be booed by anyone and not because they're Yankees but because of the quality of human beings that they are. But then again I don't take many rivalries that seriously given the nature of fraternization between players these days.

I agree. The rivalries are more about the fanbases anymore. I mean seeing Jeter, Youk and Pedroia hamming it up together during the WBC kinda kills the idea that the players hate each other like they did in the 70's.

That said, I still dislike the Yankees. ;)

The real rivalries in sports are more at the college and high school level anymore.

I don't hate Jeter, but he does act a cocky sometimes.
Kudos to him for having to put up with  Upper  Management

As far as the Red Sox are concerned, those years of which you speak, with Nomar, Pedro, Manny, and Big Papi. That was a long time in the making...they were all from the Dominican except for Normar, and all knew each other to a certain degree. They were then, and still remain good friends...

They were fun to watch!!!:D:lol: I didn't miss a game when Pedro signed on... It's funny how some of you out there, really make me laugh hysterically :lol::lol: when you play the "STEROID Card". hmmmmmmmmmmmmm funny how Manny "NEVER" tested positive for "ROIDS" while with the Red Sox, don't you think? As a matter of fact Roger Clemens didn't either!!!

I believe your confusing the Red Sox with the Yankees, you know, the team that had all but a few of their players taking "STEROIDS", and then had the nerve to "LIE" to Congress, and all their adoring fans, which some of them are still in denial. I do give credit to Andy Pettit for being honest about the whole thing...

    Let's Go Red Sox!!!

    Wish you were here...
