My hometown Royals don't have an offense but we do have ZACK GREINKE!!

8-1, 0.84 ERA, 81 K, 12 BB (!!), ZERO (0) HR allowed and FIVE (5) Complete Games.

He's a flake, but here in KC, we love the rascal!!!
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

halladay is a pitching god, but if grienke doesnt mess up; noone can touch him, too bad its not the national league and he cant show us his longball skills

i love greinke, don't get me wrong. i hope he has an amazing year, but after cliff lee beat out the doc, i'm looking for some retribution. i'll admit it's gonna be a tough road for roy to match greinke's era.

not to mention complete games and SO to BB ratio and HR allowed...

    Go Royals! :P

Yeah, if Greinke keeps it up they should change the name of the award.

If the award was given after 1/3 of the season Greinke wins by a landslide it is not even close.

Long season. I like Halladay a lot, but im rooting for Greinke to keep it up. HE struggled a few years back and they sent him back down to the minors. he was very good last year and he is sensational this year.

That guy is a complete freak. The Sports Illustrated article on him was really good.

I went to the Rangers/Royals game where he was matched up against Kevin Millwood. Both pichters went the distance and the Royals won 2-0. Amazing performances by both but Greinke was making the Rangers hitters look foolish. Not easy to do especially in that ballpark in Arlington.

someone just brought me a stack of sports illustrateds at work, and the greinke issue is on the top. i'll be reading it as soon as i have a free moment (except for now... i'm busy surfing the internet).

i'm not knocking zack... i think that he's a phenomenal player, and he's been among my top pitchers over the past few years in my fantasy leagues. he deserves all the accolades and recognition that he is now getting. he's easily the top pitcher right now, and should be for more years to come.

with that said, i'm sure he'll hit a rough patch, and halladay will make a strong push. i have a feeling that in the end it'll be close, and the race for cy young will come down to these two phenoms. my hope however is that the doc gets it... which probably correlates with me being a huge jays fan.

it's gonna be fun watching these two this season. i love great pitching.'

at least we can all agree that aj burnett is not gonna be in the running this year.

Sorry, but there is no touching Greinke so far this season. He hasn't allowed a single home run all year! His era is ridiculous, he wins with absolutely no offense behind him... the guy is unbelievable. And I say this as a die hard Tigers fan that had to suffer through watching the man dismantle his fav team last night.

Well, the Tigers are having no problems today. 8-3 in the top of the 8th. UGH!

too bad we can't clone Zack

Just goes to show how incredible he is... the Tigers have quite an offense... 19 runs in 2 games against the Royals? But when Greinke steps on the mound... 1 run.

I am a cardinals fan living in Columbia MO, and if Pearl Jam announced they would play KC and STL this year I would wear a Zack Greinke Royals jersey to both shows and cheer for him to win the cy young. But for now, Go Cards!

Speaking of the Cardinals(I'm a fan), their whole staff has been LIGHTS OUT lately.

Bringing back my thread for Zack Greinke. With one more start at Minnesota, Zack is the front runner for the Cy Young.

16-8, 2.06 and for a team that has lost over 90 games. Who knows what his record might have been if he had pitched for a decent ball club.

    Go Zack!!

I must agree he looks like the front runner here.

He has better numbers then CC Sabathia & Roy Halladay across the board. The only thing i could say for them is they plays in a division that is tougher, but I don't think you can make a case on that.

Zack seems very deserving and he has been rock solid all year. It would be great for him to win.

If I had a vote, it would be for Greinke

I'm just happy that CC lived up to his contract(so far) and hopefully will be better in the postseason than he's been in the past!

Can you imagine Greinke's numbers in the NL.....Scary

As you alluded to, can CC live up to that contract through 2015 ... 2015!

no doubt ... but, 6 more years? a guy like that will inevitably be hurt, the question is, how bad and what willhe be like when he returns?

If they can win one or two with him anchoring the rotation, the investment would be worth it. I'm more concerned with Burnett. That dudes got great stuff, but 80 something million for a career .500 pitcher, thats rolling the dice a bit

CC is a horse...but i do agree throwing that much $$ at pitching is high risk, hopefully high reward.

At least he aint Mike Hampton

Barry was getting that nasty curveball back at the end of the year. I think its been a mental thing with him, next year will be big for him. Whether or not he can salvage some good years by the bay

The list is endless. Especially in Baseball, that contract is like Ed says

    GUARANTEED!!
