Ticket question - If you can't go but have bought tickets

edited June 2009 in Given To Fly (live)
I've bought 10c tickets for London but whether i can now go or not is in the balance. My understanding when i bought them was that they were non transferable and I'd have to be present to collect my tickets. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case?

If it is then it would effectively mean i've spent £100 on two tickets i can't use and also mean two PJ fans will be denied a chance to go and see them.

Is anyone able to clarify if I have any options if I can't go?

Best bet would be to get in touch with 10C, I know they say no refunds or transfers but I guess it depends on your circumstances.

    Worth giving it a try.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.

Tell 10c to transfer the tickets over to my account. ;)

I've sent them an email asking what my choices are, if any.

u could go to the venue early the day of, pick your tickets up and already have someone to offload them onto.

Afraid not. I'm in Glasgow. Don't think you can pick up tickets until 6pm anyway.

I think you can transfer tickets to another member's account if you ask nicely (has been done in the past). But probably only to a member that hasn't bought any tickets, which rules me out as i'm still looking for 2 london tickets.

Murderers might be in with a chance!

they used to be more lenient, but probably because people abused it, they got progressively tougher in the last couple of years.
Last year they denied transfer/refund to people with VERY good reasons (including poor Mike that was stuck on his way from Oz for DC...even though he was still attending the shows after that, could prove he was on his way and that wasn't his fault in any possible way, has a shitty number that no-one would have gained from transferring to, etc). :(
I know I was worried last year of having an emergency with my gran (beside being worried for my gran), and not just losing my money but letting down the people that counted on my spares as well.

Considering they give zero notice on the ticket sales (meaning that besides genuine last minute emergency, very few can be 100% certain they'll be able to attend not having the time to get leave approved, etc beforehand), they should have some leaway. :(

even more so if you've paid your 10c membership. I'm going to the manchester show but london is in the balance. I'd have been better off taking my chances in the public sale if that is indeed the case. If the show is sold out and someone wants the tickets i don't see why they can't be transferred. Someone will always abuse a system but it shouldn't mean genuine fans should suffer.

well, the reason there's no transfer is to avoid touts...and you shouldn't buy a ticket 'just in case'.
My argument is with time to make sure and genuine reasons that makes attendance suddenly impossible.

You can always try with 10c, they had a waiting list last time.

I understand that but if they are going to another 10c member then there is no chance of touting involved. It's a bit of red herring that anyway. I had to buy two tickets although i only need one. i could scalp the other ticket if I wanted to. i could have bought tickets in the public sale and then done whatever i wanted with the tickets. I'm actually being penalised for being a 10c member. If I had bought public sale tickets i would have the option of finding a buyer if i couldn't go. I'm now facing the prospect of having spent £100 on nothing

I don't want to criticise the 10c too much because i think it's good that they look out for the fans and we get a chance of pre-sale tickets which is the main reason i joined but there is no flexibility in the system for those unexpected things that happen in life. I didn't buy the tickets just in case. When i bought them i was going.

Like many other I've spent a fortune following the band. They've only visited Glasgow twice in 17 years which has meant I've had to travel to London (4 times), Manchester, Dublin (3 times) and Prague to see them and the expense that has incurred. I don't begrudge a penny has they are worth it but i do grudge being left with tickets i can't do anything with.

I bet after all my ranting i end up being able to go and I'll feel a right dick  ;)

Some very good points there Kevtic.....I totally agree with you, there are flaws in the system.

Especially since I'm in the same boat....and we spent loads of money in travelling to see them, cause they don't come to Scotland, and play in London during the week. Think of the teachers! ;)
