Tyson's daughter dies aged four

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8068048.stm
'The four-year-old daughter of US boxer Mike Tyson has died, a day after she was injured while playing at home, police in Phoenix have said.

Exodus Tyson had been in hospital on life support since Monday, when she was found with her neck caught in a cable of a treadmill exercise machine.

Mr Tyson, an ex-heavyweight champion, was in Las Vegas when it happened, but flew to Phoenix on Monday.

A police investigation has ruled the death a "tragic accident."

"I was just advised by investigators that Exodus Tyson was pronounced deceased at 1145 [local time on Tuesday - 1845 GMT] at the hospital," Phoenix police spokesman Andy Hill said in a statement. "Our sympathies go out to the family."

Police had earlier said the girl was playing on the treadmill on Monday when her head apparently slipped inside a cord hanging under the console.

They said the girl had either put her head in the looped cord or slipped and was unable to remove it.

She was found by her older brother at the family's home in Arizona.

The child's mother had called emergency services when she was alerted by her son and tried to resuscitate her.

The family has asked for privacy.'

this is what happens when you punch women in the uterus, and also threaten to eat your opponent's children. karma's gonna find you eventually. feel bad for the kid, but daddy's a psychopath.

It is very sad, and it's amazing how many of these types of accidents occur each year.

In the last year or so, two former Edmonton Oilers (hockey) have had accidents involving their kids....one (Esa Tikkannen) had a large hutch fall on his kid. Tommy Salo's kid died after falling from a window. I can't even begin imagine what it would be like to go thru this, and it chokes me up even thinking about it :(

I'm an Oilers fan but I didn't know bout Tikkannnen & Salo losing their kids either :(
I remember Eric Clapton losing his son years ago, that was heartbreaking too.

I never heard whether Tik's kid made it or not, but he was in critical when the story broke. I think he did survive, or there probably wuold have been more follow up.

So sad about Tyson's daughter. Hopefully Tyson can keep his shit together. He's done some crappy stuff but isn't cleaned up quite a bit.

Unrelated to the op and having to do with the death of Eric Clapton's son........... Brian McNamee was one of the cops that responded to the scene when Clapton's son fell. He basically turned in his badge and eventually became friends with Roger Clemens. We all know what happened next

I really feel awful for mike tyson. I just watched "Tyson" this afternoon and he seemed really deeply invested in his children. He was talking about how he wanted to see his children graduate from school and to have a grandchild.

Whenever I think the Internet has any potential for encouraging insightful human empathy or even sympathy with our fellow humans regardless of their flaws, I come across disgusting posts such as this and my aspirations are checked by cynicism. Karma, my arse.

I didn't know that either (about the hockey player's kids)

I couldn't EVEN IMAGINE what it would be like to lose a little child like that

my neighbor accidentally ran over his son (years ago). It was the worst funeral you could ever imagine. The coffin was only about three feet long and I've never seen so many people just wailing at the viewing. It just broke everyone's heart.

I don't even know if I could attend a funeral for a child. It would take me weeks to recover, even if I never knew the kid or family. Since I had my own kids, I have to avoid news stories like this if they're at all detailed....
A 3 yr old died here a year or so ago after being run over...they interviewed family members n friends in the newspaper article...I had tears running down my cheeks by the end of it, sitting in a fucking McDonalds  .....:( Too easy to let your imagination get carried away, and picture your child, how you'd handle it, etc...

No. I'm not living in dreamland. Most people are decent. If someone started spouting and pontificating in a real life social situation, saying how it was karma that a celebrity's child died because of his past misdemeanours, this person would be dismissed from company pretty rapidly as a nut. Passive aggression of this sort festers in the domain of the hinterland of the Internet, not the reality of day-to-day, person-to-person humanity (which one would hope the Internet would try and reflect). It's the stuff of YouTube commentary, which doesn't reflect what's out there as much as what happens when people don't get out much.

I lost a 9 year old boy and a 19 year old assistant from my classroom in the same year back in 1991 and those funerals were the hardest to attend and I spoke at both. One of the few times a funeral brought me to tears. It's very sad when comes to a child or youngster passing away.
