Ah, the luxury of being in a position of having seen so many shows you can complain about them playing certain songs too often... try living in New Zealand like me, where they haven't played in 11 years... I now live in Louisiana, where they have played twice in the ten years since I moved here - and I wasn't able to attend either one. Those guys could fart on a snare drum or burp the alphabet and I'd go home happy having seen then on stage again (seriously, another show besides Austin down our neck of the woods... since I can't get to that one either because of work lol). Not all of us have the luxury of living in places where the band plays 3-4 times a year, or the free time to be able to travel around the country following them when they tour (though god knows I'd love it if I did). Personally, I'd give a kidney to be able to see them play Alive, Even Flow, Black, Jeremy, Daughter, RVM, and Indifference again - those were the songs of my youth, every time I hear them I'm a teenager playing basketball in my driveway or in a bus touring Australia with my soccer team again. I'd take those songs over Soon Forget or I'm Open any day of the week - and I like Soon Forget and I'm Open! It's about more than just shelling out money to see a band you love - it's about the trip down memory lane you go on when you hear a song like DTE, and you are immediately taken back to the time you heard them play it live in Auckland and it completely changed the way you looked at the entire Yield album.
So to all of you who complain about hearing songs "too often" - you're all a bunch of spoiled brats, spare a thought for those of us who don't get to see them every year lol
P.S. Come to New Orleans and play Garden and I Got You... or History Never Repeats... or even Throw Your Arms Around Me... I'll shout you all a round of beers
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
Fast anything I can do without, but really please no more fast Even Flow, Corduroy and SOLAT. If played at the right tempo, even then, maybe just play it every 2nd or 3rd show, if you really must. But if I had to just name 1 - fast Even Flow would be it.
PS: The opposite holds true for Alive and Jeremy - if it's to be played, please put the intensity back into it. Alive especially, has been dragging it's tail around for a while now
PPS: YL and RITFW as set closers I can do without too - what ever happened to Indifference or Sonic Reducer. try some new ones like Around the Bend, Parting Ways, Sleight of Hand, gone, LBC, etc.
they could retire even flow, crazy mary, small town, black, betterman, corduroy, alive, RITFW and daughter for awhile
all great songs no doubt-but id love a show or two without any of them
WMA is ok, but I'd rather have almost anything else from their catalog, I think it works better as Daughter tag
I've heard Indifference 2x live, but besides that..... It's great, but with the idea that Ben Harper may be around, I'd rather not
Not For You>I don't get why this song is so popular among PJ faithful. I mean, it's ok but it's just the same riff 100x over with short bridge then back to virtually the same riff for another minute or 2.
I respect the thought but I could never place a song on this list. 13 shows and each one just as great as the last. I could not go to the upcoming Chicago Show (s?) knowing a song would not be played. Shame on you "fans"
Dream the dreams of other men...You will be no ones rival
All those who complain about hearing the "fast" versions of evenflow or SOLAT etc. are the same people who would complain if they slowed them down, and then didnt get 30 songs in.
