What guitar manufacturer do you think is the top of the line? Gibson? Taylor? Fender? Martin? Another brand?

Whats the best manufacturer for acoustic? For Electric?

If any single one was better than the others, then everyone would play that guitar. Instead, it's more like different guitars fit different people, styles of music, or an aesthetic ideal better than another.

To put it another way, guitars are kinda like flavors of ice cream. Can anyone say that vanilla is better than chocolate, or that rocky road is better than cookies and creme? Nope.

Some guitar companies have a better reputation for the quality, longevity, and reliability of their instruments. Some have more intricate finishes or more controls available. These things you can argue, but even then, it's not absolute. Some are also more or less valuable, and some will become more valuable while others will lose value over time. But we're still not arguing which is "best"...

Fender and Gibson are the most iconic electric guitar brands out there. But there are other manufacturers like Paul Reed Smith (PRS), Ibanez, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, ESP, and even guys like Suhr and Anderson who make some great guitars. Some are more expensive than others; some are a better "value," whereas some focus on overall quality no matter what price.

Gibson, Martin, and Taylor are the most iconic acoustic brands. But Guild, Takamine, Larrivee, Breedlove, Seagull, Fender, Alvarez, and lots of small builders like Collings and Bourgiouse (sp?) make good, playable guitars. Again, some are a better "value," and some are really nice high-end instruments with big price tags.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

  • Froggy Bottom are excellent acoustics, but if you are looking for something affordable, you cannot go wrong with a Taylor 214

and as far as electrics go, if you like Fenders, buy a NASH and if you like les pauls, buy a Gibson 58 LP R8 plaintop...absolutley flawless.......

For the price range, Seagull is pretty tough to beat on the acoustic side.

Good point above though. Really tough to say which is factually the best

  • If you have $7,000 you should get the Moog guitar. That shit is fucking awesome. No joke. Check it out on moogmusic.com Fuck gibson and fender..this guitar is the shit.
