Anyone have an tricks to feeling better? I made the mistake last night of eating some questionable bacon that had been sitting uncooked in my fridge a little too long. Now I've been paying for it since 6 AM. Any words of wisdom? I'm desperate.

(FYI... Yes, I cooked the bacon before I ate it. No, it's not the swine flu. Yes, I know I should just be a vegetarian and I wouldn't be having this problem.)

Thank you!

just ride it through..... it's brutal! Sorry you have to go through this.... hopefully it's not too bad and ends soon.
just keep hydrated (gatoraide or even pedialite) other then that there's not much else you can do. :(

you can go to the hospital and they can give you a shot- I had bad food poisoning last year and it did not end until I did that.
Other than that, there is Emetrol- anti-vomiting medicine. And keep hydrated.
    hope you feel better

Last spring I got food poisoning on spring break in LA. Me and me brother and my gf all ended up in the hospital. We got IV's to replace fluids lost, and some anti-nausea meds to help us keep down liquids and tylenol. But really there's nothing you can do. It was just 2 days of riding it out and letting is play hell with your system. We were all going to the bathroom to either puke or shit about every 15 minutes for 12 hours. After that it cut back a bit, but we still didn't feel right for a good 48 hours.

    Hang in there!

I got sick once at Country Kitchen on a road trip to Colorado.

Holy hell I wanted to die! hahahaha!

It eventually gets better, but man it was ugly!

I travel a LOT for work now and I am super careful what I eat when I'm traveling!

i feel for you...its the pits

think the only time i ever got it was at london gig in 07.
got on plane that moring everything was fine.
had a couple of pints and collected 10c tickets and it all went wrong after that.
had to go to bed before the concert....
had to get them to leave me outside the venue when in the queue...i was so sick looking they left me
missed half the concert beacause of trips to toilet every 10 mins or so...
It was my own fault when i remembered later that night.
Had a barbecue the day before and i had half gobbled a leg of chicken when i noticed it was totally pink.
Could not even blame anyone else for ruining the trip as i had cooked it...
All i could try to do was drink as much water as possible while trying not to puke it back up.

Morale of story....always cook meat for a while in the oven first..

Water isn't really enough to rehydrate you. You need something with electrolytes in, like Diorylite.

    Get better soon.
Try to tell me that you love me, throw your little punches at me...

For me, taking a probiotic like Culturelle or Align in the a.m. combined with a Florastor in the evening really seems to cut down on recovery time if I get sick to my stomach. The first 2 probiotics seem to keep the food poisoning from being as bad as it could be, and the Florastor seems to really help stop diarrhea naturally. I first started taking this combo for IBS, but found out that they work great for food poisoning when my kid got sick and I gave them to her figuring if they could help me, maybe they'd help her. Now we swear by them. They are also really great to take while taking antibiotics. Your digestive health stays in noticeably better shape than without them if you tend to get antibiotic-induced stomach troubles.

Thanks so much y'all! I'm starting to feel better this evening, although I still haven't eaten anything but half a can of chicken noodle soup - mostly broth. I've actually lost 6 pounds in the past 36 hours! I'm just praying that I'm okay for work tomorrow, because I can't afford to take any time off right now. Thank God for three-day weekends!

Thanks for the info! I'll have to give this a try, as I tend to have all of the above-mentioned issues.
