ben harper tour dates

Relentless 7 tour dates have an interesting gap. they have been playing for a while and continue to play all the way through 8/8/09 at Lollapalooza in Chicago. then they are wide open until 10/4/09 at ACL festival in Austin Texas.

Pearl Jam begin their tour on 8/13/09 and finish their tour on 10/4/09 at ACL in Austin Texas. they have nothing scheduled from 8/28 - 10/4 but are expected to tour the west coast in September.

just a coincidence?

    so here is the theory I have talked myself into.....

    Relentless 7 is the opening band on the Pearl Jam tour. Because R7 play this Monday at the Gorge, Wed in San Fransisco, and Thursday in Los Angeles, they don't want to announce the opening band because of the "Fuck it, Ill just see em play when the open for Pearl Jam in September" factor. better to amaze people with your headlining show, then let them know you can see them again with Pearl Jam in September and go for the "I'm not going to miss that fucking show!" factor..
    to me, this explains why PJ has not announced their opening artist for the dates we have so far.... and why they haven't announced the west coast leg yet...and why the exact same dates have yet to be announced for the Relentless 7 tour,... and why both tours end on the same night at the same festival. If I am right, PJ can feel free to announce their west coast leg and opening act next Friday. next Friday sounds about right anyway doesnt it?????? being as it didn't happen last Friday...... or this Friday...

    This is a well developed theory and is definitely a possibility, the R7 is really good and who knows if Ben was on tour with Pearl Jam maybe they would do under pressure just like at the benefit concert in new york a few weeks back.

    i'm really liking this thought! hope it's true & i sincerely hope that Ben & R7 play right before PJ @ ACL. otherwise, we will miss BH & R7.

    That would be bad-fucking-ass, Robbie! I love Ben Harper, and am dying to see Relentless 7. Together with Pearl Jam would just be about as good as it's going to get for an opening band, short of Ed Vedder himself doing a solo opening act.

    That would be sweet, just saw Ben and R7 here in Chicago last weekend and the show rocked....

    Ben did not hint at it, but I wouldn't expect him to

    And your logic makes sense however not sure how it would work with Lolla and they might not be able to announce it yet, becuase Lolla has strict policy about playing in Chicago anytime around the festival.

    The first a few notes of the first song at the Catalyst back in December made me think that this was the fucking perfect opening band for Pearl Jam. If I wasn't too lazy, I would try to go back and find my related thread here on Porch claiming that too. But yeah, I hope you're right! That would kick so much ass, it wouldn't even be funny!
