Stripped screw...

Ok, so I haven't been playing much lately, but last night I got the bug again. However, when I got the DG335 out I noticed the straplocks seem loose on the end. Upon further inspection, the body is stripped out (the hole is too big for the screw). WTF do I do? you can't put a bigger screw in because it wouldn't fit in the straplock. Also, how did this happen? I rarely even play this thing (which is another issue all together). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

you can try getting some wood filler, and putting the screw in letting the wood filler dry with the screw already in, or use the filler, fill up the hole, then when it dries completely, re-drill your screw into the body.

Another option would be to drill a new hole in the body

Or you can go to a local hardware store, and get the same size diameter screw, but longer so you're going deeper into the body (that's what she said)

I had a similiar problem where (no straplock) but the strap button screw fell out completely, so I just used a larger screw and have had no problems since.

    good luck, hope this helps

Find a dowel rod that fits snugly or halve some toothpicks and put down in there.... that'll give it somethin to grab onto.
  • thanks guys. I'll give the wood filler a try if I can't find a longer screw...(that's what your mom said)

I'll vouch for the toothpick method as it's worked great for me over the years.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
