I don't think I've seen a thread about one of my all time favourite bands.
To think of how many bands these guys influences is phenomenal, they gave so many kids the confidence to make music despite these kids never having music training. True legends!

What is your favourite album and what do you think is their best album?

For me...
Favourite: Leave Home
Best: Rocket to Russia

I like the Ramones' more known songs in small doses.

I've always heard that they were massively influential but fail to see it.

I saw the Ramones live in the 80's and I must say their live show allowed me to experience their music in a new way. Suddenly, I couldn't wait to get home and hear them on vinyl. As for favorities, I don't really have one.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

The Ramones were one of the first real bands I got into as a kid...they were my gateway into my teens when I covered my car in stickers, blew out my speakers on a weekly basis, and decided to only date guys in bands....yeah THOSE years.

My favorite is the self titled debut.
The best? probably same as above with Rocket to Russia trailing close behind.
The one I played the most and had to replace twice? End of the Century, but only because I listened to Chinese Rock every day in high school, I think.

Can I also mention that I like that you differentiate between YOUR favorite and something that is objectively the BEST? I argue this point to my husband constantly....he just doesn't get it.

    :) Thanks.

Yeah they were my #1 band in my teens, until I got into PJ ;)
Johnny Ramone is the reason I picked up a guitar!
They will always be in my top 3 bands!

  • Road to Ruin,
and i have no shame about saying that.
I don't give a fuck what the "critics" have to say.

Don't Come Close and Questioningly ROCK.
Okay, maybe they don't "rock", but i love it.

The Ramones are kind of like The Beatles to me.
    Great body of work,
no album really stands out that well as a single example.
They spread their greatness over many different records.

But if i had to pick one, it would be Road to Ruin.
And for the Beatles, it would probably be Beatles For Sale, if anyone is asking.

If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

Glad you inserted the caveat of Questioningly NOT rocking... ;)
I think I have lost the ability to say the name of that song correctly because I always think of the part in Rock n Roll High School where she yells it out in response to the radio contest. Questioningingly!!

I saw them on Lollapalooza '96 and opening for PJ in 95 and I didn't like them at all.

I really dig them now and wish I had appreciated them more when I saw them.

I only have "Loud Fast", a greatest hits album and Pet Semetary that I bought off itunes.

    says she's going to LA
    but she never got there

she never got there, they say.

The KKK took my baby away
they took my girl, they took my baby away

And oh, I don't know why Oh, I don't know why
Perhaps they'll die, oh yeah, perhaps they'll die, oh yeah
Perhaps they'll die, oh yeah, perhaps they'll die, oh yeah

    I agree with Cox.
