Somebody needs to hit for the cycle and you'll really have something. Also ortiz hitting a homer is really something. Go sox!

They look incredible these days. Just think, if Bonderman gets healthy, they basically have 7 starting pitchers to choose from... it doesn't look like the same team as last year! And they're doing it all without their usual anchors hitting very well (Polanco, Ordonez, Guillen). I'm so stoked for this season, and I'll be back in Toledo soon so I'll be making as many trips up to Comerica as I can afford ;)

I've got tickets for the Red Sox game on 6/3!
I was pretty skeptical about the pitching at the beginning of the season, and I'm still not completely sold on it. But JV seems to have found his old self, Edwin Jackson is proving to be solid, Porcello is holding his own, and if Tuesday was any indication, Willis has figured his head out. Gallaraga seems to have come back down to earth, but I'm hoping he finds his stuff again. And if Bondo comes back strong like they say he is (on the radio they said he hit 98 pretty consistently on the gun in West Michigan), the starting pitching really shouldn't be a concern. Their bp isn't top notch by any means, but they have been getting the job done for the most part.
The hitting will come. They have a strong line up top to bottom, and I love how Leyland isn't afraid to bring the young guys up and give them some innings. Thomas, Rayburn and Larish have all contributed so far, and Ramirez, who played in his first mlb game against Texas, hit his first career homer.

In short, this could be the season everyone was expecting last year

Mark Reynolds just stole his 5th bag of the day/night. 4 in the 1st game and now 1 in the 2nd game of the twin bill. :o Thank you Fantasy Stats! 8-)

That's been the biggest difference between this year and last year for me. I felt like last year this team did not score a run unless someone hit a home run. It seemed like they stranded more runners than any team I've ever seen. On top of that, nobody was in the same position from night to night... it was like musical chairs all over the field and nobody ever seem to know what the hell was going on on defense.

This year, they're scoring runs 2-3 at a time, with singles, doubles, stolen bases, gutsy plays... and their whole defense is pretty well anchored into place and really clicking together. It's been damned exciting to watch. On top of that, the starting pitching has been MUCH more reliable and the bullpen, while not flawless, has seemed far more consistent than the last few years. It's looking very good for the Tigers these days!

    And another sweep today ;)

And I'm going to add that Miguel Cabrera has one of the most beautiful swings I've seen in baseball.

-Jason Bay's home run in the 5th broke a car window.

When your #3 hitter doesnt hit his first HR until May 20th, that's a bit of a problem. Can it be any more obvious that Ortiz was juicing big time?

Yeah, it could be. I'm not a RedSox fan but just about everybody that talks about his swing talks about how jacked up it is, compared to when he was really hittin the ball. His average is down not just his power, and he's still a pretty big dude.

yeah cause he was never tested in the last 5 years  he was just in a slump. as soon as someones numbers decline thats the first thing everyone points. its disgusting.

This is ridiculous..I know my Mets have some major fucking problems right now, but we all know that Beltran's swing is by far the sweetest..

Again, it does not compare to Beltran's sweet effortless swing..

no doubt beltrans swing is nice but still, the kids swing... will never be beaten.

on a side note: ryan howards swing has been really overlooked, he goes to both sides of the park effortless

All good and valid options, but Beltran's swing this year is especially sick! If you haven't noticed his league leading sweet batting, you're lost ;) ..really is a thing of beauty..

I've never met him, but as long as he keeps hitting the way he has been, he can be as big a douche as he wants. He can't possibly be worse than the last "cleanup" hitter we had (Sheffield).

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think he's a douche? I'm not disagreeing with you, but since he's been in Detroit he hasn't really said much. Hasn't done anything outstanding (off the field), but he hasn't really participated in any douchbaggary that I have noticed.
