i absolutely loved that mike article...it made it seem like becoming a famous musician is easy. form a band with great chemestry, record a demo, give it out to people, all of a sudden, you have representation and a record deal...haha if only it really was that easy lol

mike article was indeed very cool. Also loved the idea and execution of the banter with jeff and stone...
  • Does anyone know if there is a place on the web that archives the issues of DEEP? I've moved a few times since 2006 and I'm not sure if I'm missing any of them. Plus it would be cool if there was a site that had scans of old newsletters, especially earlier ones. I would love to see some mid-nineties fanclub stuff from before I was a member.

That would be awesome, if they were downloadable as PDFs for example!

Yeah. The conversation between Jeff and Stone is good. :)

  • Agreed. I love looking at the old pics and news articles and stuff. The "artifacts" or what you will call them, from the early days will never get old to me.

Hmmm. Not sure about it. Stone has featured in these long interviews in the last 3 or 4 issues of Deep (one with the Mudhoney guy, one with Josh Homme) and Pearl Jam is hardly
mentioned, at all. It is all about Mudhoney & Queens of The Stone Age, and Stone kisses major ass!

Even the discussion with Jeff, the majority of it is about their first bands…
I want stuff on the recording of Vs or Vitalogy, etc etc. This is a Pearl Jam fanzine after all. Mike is so much more interesting when interviewed, he gives away little secrets which are more fascinating

I wish we still had Stone's little section on Numbers still. Thought the first one was brilliant!!

I think it's the best issue to date.

Love the Mike article, very candid and seems pretty unedited. Kind of feels like Mike is just speaking to you first-hand.

The give and take with Jeff and Stone is awesome. Some really interesting stuff in there.

The give and take with stone and jeff was amazing. Loved when they talked bout andy. I get a sense that there still not over it and part of them wishes mlb was still a band. Its amazing to think they've been together for 25 years or so.

I on the other hand I am disappointed. With the exception of the interviews, it is a complete re-hash of the deluxe edition of which I paid $140. Nothing new, nothing different, but both cool in their own right. I just wish it differed more. It will go in the box with the vinyl and other scrapbook that came with the deluxe.

With that said, please understand I am not bitching. Just sayin.

if you read the front it says "Special Ten Issue" so if you expected more Vs./Vitalogy and was upset by it then that's your own fault

sorry if that sounded bitchy...just saying

I disagree. The essay from Mike and the Jeff & Stone discussion was entirely new and exclusive to Deep. In fact there isn't much discussion at all in the Deluxe Edition. I don't think you should make that an exception since it is pretty significant. Another thing to keep in mind too is I'm sure there are a far greater number of Ten Club members than there were were Deluxe Editions actually manufactured. So the majority of the members probably never got any of the interesting extras like Ed's composition book.

All in all I think it's a nice addition to the other Ten stuff and it's cool the members got something special.
