Is boom on his way out???

He didn't play with them when they honored the WHO and now Mike is playing the piano on Santa Cruz. I hope he is back and that all it is in bad timing. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!

I have no real aliegance to Boom (though I do think they can do better), but the keyboard needs to stay whether Boom is playing them or not!
As I have said a thousand times over the last 5-6 years...
More piano, less organ!
I think the only reason they didn't use him for the VH1 thing was probably because this other guy probably played on the actual recording, and probably didn't mess it up like Boom has done.
I like Boom. I like songs with organ and piano.
Only thing I'd say is GET RID OF THE SYNTHESIZED PIANO - IT'S LIKE NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD. Betterman intro during DC anyone? With a real piano that may have sounded "ok"... but with a horrible synth?

I say they should go back to what they had on stage in the 90s: 5 members.
oh... that was O'Brien? Well, he's got more history with PJ than Boom.

With all due respect, you really need to get rid of that fucking hair
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I'm very, very frightening
and I'll overdo it'
I had no idea that was O'Brien!
I wonder if that is why those songs sounded so f'n good!!?!?
I will say that when BenmontTench from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers subbed for Boom in Denver 2006 on Black, I def noticed a difference. Listen to it. Amazing keys. First night is really something.
I like the sound he adds. Hope he stays!
In fairness to Boom, it's hard for any keyboard player to match up with Tench.
I've always been a big fan of the B3 in rock music, so he's always been a welcome addition to me.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...
I love him on Crazy Mary too. But please, please, just give us back In My Tree. I beg you.
We say this every record
I'm pretty sure Boom will still be there -maybe not as prominant on the new record since Brendon O'Brien is producing- but I imagine he will be part of the touring lineup if nothing else.
Personally I like Boom and the potential he brings to the band. They finally figured out how to utilize him properly on the 2006 Tour. The Riot Act tour was a bit of a clusterfuck as it seemed like they felt that they had to use him on every song. Thankfully, Boom eventually learned to pick his parts a little bit better and truly added a rather interesting dynamic to both the sound of the album and tour.
In the future, I hope that they can continue to find some space for him in their songs because I just love the sound of a B3 organ and what it can bring to a song.
Pearl Jam seems to be moving in some interesting directions and opening themselves up to some different sounds. So I think it only makes sense that they keep him around.
A++++++++++++
It's done, its over..move ON!!!!!
