Wake Up

1. Laughter

Infectious laughter stops
Time itself drops
Radiance holy growth
Nuclear wasted hopes

Walls and foundations will set me free
Like a bird who never learned to fly from the tree
Modern social life is dangling in freefall
Waiting for an earthquake to come – down-tear it all

Life grinds down
Christ is proud
Destruction around
Me

Hicks and Springstein never saw it before
Society’s rust from emotion’s core
Tales of a psychopath will kill them all
Nightmares die of boredom

Religious intolerance
Poetic ignorance
Racist fundamentals
It’s all mine

Quietly I pray
With wonderment and awe
Tenderly I say
God has fucked them all

2. Nature

Frank and dishonest
A lifetime’s worth of tonic
Kindred spirit dies
Amongst her fiery eyes

The sun beats his chest – cries out to the sea
Nature’s in turmoil – far from how it was meant to be
Feathers float to the dirty soil
The lust has made my blood boil

Harmony and peace
Lost with the 60s’ dream
Crash rocks together
Sparks gone forever

Cobain and Lennon said opposite things
Do we arm ourselves or do we dare to dream?
Do we question or do we blindly obey?
Do we rebel or do we learn how to slay?

Infectious laughter stops
Time itself drops
Evil power impressed
Eleven lives stressed

Can a soothsayer
Or a prophet
Deliver his message
And survive to tell the tale?
- He leaves a mountain of ashes
In his wake...Wake up…Wake up…

3. Breathe

Thoughtless and inconsiderate
A naked-eyed conglomerate
Hypocrisy and truth
Purpled boundaries

Shields of destruction and daggers of self-defence
Float like swans beneath the radiant hedge
Leather-bound evil and misconception
Best selling novel of all time

Vibrating vocal chords
Torn across a silhouette
Of a stranger
Breathe

Stipe and Young could rule the world
But would be slaves to its foundations
Reluctance for-tells acceptance
They’ve gone ahead and killed them

I hate my love
Of the unreachable
I yearn to speak
The unspeakable

The breath of life
Seizes in my dreams
Till I can only scream
Wake up…Wake up…

4. Walls

A two-piece suit
Vivid and restless
Strangles reds and blues
In it’s pursuit

Gates of fire hide a truth too dark to define
For his lust for life, he will burn for evermore
A crass hypocrisy of intangible love
Aware only of confusion

Celibate and sexual
Delicate and delectable
Tray of flowers cut
Into a million petals

Vedder and Dylan break down the walls
And give this little boy a life once more
A soul clenched with musical spirit
Released as the dove that finally learns to soar

The rulers and the greedy
Are subverted intensely
The ugly fist of fascism
Is tortured delightfully

Can you define
What’s black and what’s white?
When holy freedom has finally
After all these years
Decided to wake up…
