should I skydive?

This is something I always wanted to do but keep changing my mind.

Have you done it?
How was it?
How much is it usually?
Anyone in the philly area do it and can recommend a reliable company?
Anyone wanna do it with me?
Should I be scared shitless?! ;)

    I've had the thought myself from time to time.

    But in all honesty, I don't want to do the 'tandem' jump where I'm attached to someone. Is there a way to do all my training on the ground, so when my first jump is a solo jump???

    Anyone know?? Oh, and if you want, you can answer CiW questions too! :lol:

    Never done it but have thought about it and wanted to in the past

    She was in the process of trying to get enough jumps done so that she could be an instructor.

    It's pretty addicting - towards the end all she talked about was sky diving and her sky diving friends.

    I did it for my birthday 2 years ago. I went with my husband and my brother; and it was the best birthday present I could have given myself. It lasted 2-3 min tops- 30 seconds of freefall and the rest parachuting down. It was a tandem jump- which was fine- the parachute was huge- and he had a backup one.

    I used http://www.skysthelimit.net. Its in Stroudsburg, PA. It was during the week- so it was a bit cheaper around $150- now it may be more.

    I believe you have to have a certain number of tandem jumps or lessons before you can go solo- and its not a lot - no more that 4 or 5.

    I've done it twice. Once in Hawaii and once local in MA. It was the greatest thrill ever and a extreme adrenaline rush. I had a video made in Hawaii of my jump in 2006 and I think it cost about $225 in Hawaii. I did it last summer here in MA and didn't have a video made and it was about the same. Price of inflation I guess. The worst part is the way up in the plane and seconds before you jump. Falling is incredible and like nothing else. To all those who worry about the chute not opening, I just figure I did it tandem both times and if the chute fails, we both die. Last year the first chute got tangled so the instructor had to cut us loose and use the reserve chute. You always have 2 chutes, remember that.

    I think it was $140.
    I jumped out above Devils Tower in Wyoming. So no where near Philly.
    I would go if I was there.

    I have never done it myself but a friend did it two years ago and he had a blast.
    I'm looking forward to learn paragliding. I don't know when as I need to book a full week for that but I'll do it.

    I have been thinking of this for a while too. There is a company by seaseide NJ i think that does it for under $200. You need to go with someone ur first time. (I wouldnt want to go by myself ahhaha) I can only imagine how great it would be. But i am definitely doing it soon. (and yeah, you always have 2 parachutes)

    It was a present for my 30th Birthday. BEST thing I have ever done. Period. Was in Orange County, NY, so not so close. I have a huge problem with heights and it was not bad because of the proximity. Breathtaking and exhilirating!

    Did it tandem and then solo, with someone watching me.
