Which songs feature Jeff's strongest work?

My nephew is learning to play the bass and I want to put together an "inspiration" disc
for him with PJ songs where Jeff is heavily featured.

Thanks for any input.

Hey, I play bass and Low LIght is really fun to play. It might be too hard for him if he's a beginner but keep it in mind.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Faithfull. Actually, pretty much anything on Yield will work. That's like the Jeff Ament showcase album.

    BEST JEFF SONGS!

It isn't a Pearl Jam song, but the best I have ever heard Jeff is when they covered The Real Me at Rock Honors. He was on a whole other level than I had ever heard him before.

    Really?

    Oceans.

    No one else?

His bass line makes that song. And by listening to it it shouldn't be too advanced for someone new to the game.

songwriting skills - Nothing as it seems

bass playing - I can't believe nobody has said Whipping! its like he's channeling Entwistle for that song! Hail, Hail is very, very good as well.

But seriously, he really is just fantastic on everything, you just have to listen for it

Thanks for all the great input. Keep it coming!

I think I'll do two discs - one for inspiration with the harder songs
and one with the simpler songs for starting out.

Hey, and no more hijack attempts!!!

Bushleaguer has a cool bassline during the spoken word part.
Of course there's Tremor Christ too.

Neither of those are for beginners but they're awesome.
