I saw Dan Auerbach and his band, The Fast Five, in London last night... They were, quite simply, fucking amazing! Definitely one of the best gigs I've seen this year (only Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan' acoustic show tops this) Imagine the classic Black Keys dirty blues sound, but with an extra guitarist, TWO drummers, a bass and an organ!

If you haven't got Dan's "Keep It Hid" cd, you really need to get hold of it as soon as you finish reading this! Then get your ass to one of his shows! "The Prowl" and "Heartbroken, In Disrepair" sounded particularly awesome, even better than the album versions, and Dan was clearly enjoying rocking out in front of a full band.

I've loved the Black Keys since "The Big Come Up" was released and I've always thought that their sound was perfect as it was, especially live. I've seen them three times and I was always impressed by how HUGE they sounded, even though there's only two of them. Is it actually possible that Dan's 'solo' band is actually better than the Black Keys?!?

I took a few videos last night so if I can get my shitty computer to work properly I'll get them onto YouTube. I'll post the links here and you can see for yourselves.
