I enjoy "Tigerlily" as well, particularly the 5.1 DVD-Audio version.

she's one talented woman. saw her a few times live.

I particularly like how she stood up against radio hosts in one song who were joking about River Phoenix's death... (wow, that was more than a few years ago)

I have been listening to Beloved wife since yesterday when I saw this post. It reminds me of when my mother passed away a few years back. What an incredible song! It is amazing how much great music is out there and you pass it up. I had this cd for years and never listened to it until now or maybe I could not relate to it until now. River is also incredible. Thanks for the reminder!

Just finished listened to 5 albums in a row. That's around 4 hours 37 mins and 09 seconds and i'm thoroughly impressed. Thanks for the PJ board for opening my eyes wider and seeing more talent!

AFTER THE GOLD RUSH was a fucking sweet suprise too!

Other female solo artists I like are Regina Spektor, some PJ Harvey and Fiona Apple.

Here's some Regina Spektor live stuff, for those who haven't heard her sing:

I've been a Natalie Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs fan for almost 25 years now (yes, I'm old). If you aren't familiar with 10,000 Maniacs' early stuff, I highly recommend The Wishing Chair (the first tour I saw them on) and In My Tribe (the first tour that I actually met Natalie on). Original copies of In My Tribe have a cover of Peace Train by Cat Stevens. They took the song off of later album editions due to Cat Stevens criticism of Salmon Rushdie (sp?), but you can find 10,000 Maniacs' cover on you tube....very beautiful.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

Big Nat fan here too! Been to a bunch of her shows, and even did some boot trading for a while. I love All her albums! :) I was surprised to see this thread pop up today! YAY for Nat! Yes I do believe she is working on a new album - she had fallen off the music scene for a while (purposely) in order to focus her energy on her daughter. Guess she's old enough now, and probably in school so nat is ready to jump back into singing. I know she's done a few projects here or there, but I can't wait to hear a full album. Have you guys been to her website before it was under construction - it is being redone now. She had some really amazing personal art and poetry up.
